In his last two managerial stops Allardyce has managed 21 points in 30 matches while shipping an obscene number of goals. He isn't a rescue artist anymore, he's an over-the-hill manager with an antiquated style that no longer accomplishes the thing it is meant to accomplish, namely providing solidity.

Brighton finished this season on 62 pts. Under Koeman we finished on 63 and then 60.

Having personally been so bloody impressed by Brighton this season, it really puts into perspective how f*cking incredible we must have been under Koeman. I mean, I know we were good, I just didn't realise we were that good.

We were unbelievable. I really think if we had splashed like 15-20 mil in January on an extra attacking player we would have been top four

Especially when you think we went on a run of 12 games without a win (or whatever the exact stat was)

Unbelievable side that was. Truly, truly magical watching that side.

The other side of the coin is someone like Spurs who everyone seems to think have had an awful season and “can’t get any worse” only finished 2 points behind Brighton

I know it’s all relative and expectations of the clubs are different etc but it really does highlight just how hard it is for a team to break into that top bracket consistently

Any club not one of the big six is only three or four transfer windows from relegation - just look at Leicester, Winning the league, champions league football, top 5 & still relegated just a couple of years later. The fact that we stayed up as long as we did is a small miracle in itself.

I quite like Ange, so I wouldn't mind seeing him do well there. Quite a lot of crap to sort out though, I think.

He's certainly a step away from the trendy young manager model and isn't the high stature type of coach Levy has chased in recent years.

Definitely lots of work to do, especially if Kane goes (which he will IMO) deserves a chance, but if he doesn’t hit the ground running ……but how fickle will spurs fans and Levy be.
