Just reading the budget is around 100 million so I would prefer they bought maddison and another top player than signing 4 or 5 prospects.

It's quality this squad is short of rather than depth.
Apparently Maddison has wage demands similar to those of Rice, who has been reported as wanting around 250k per week. If accurate, then this would probably explain why we have been scouting Szoboszlai.

Reactions: Munson.
So Pout is appointed at Chelsea, and Beeb say this:

"He takes over from interim boss Frank Lampard, who guided Chelsea to 12th in the Premier League"

Guided them to 12th? Lol, made them fall like a lead balloon to 12th more like. I wonder if they're going to say Allardyce guided Leeds to the Championship.

£150m plus player sales is at least four top end players in. LB, CM, RW and probably CB a priority. Then youth.
£150million is a decent amount, but probably more like three at a push if you're talking top end... Unless they pull off some amazing bargains like Trippier and Bruno. Depending on who we sell, then maybe four.

However I’d give out top wage offer plus extra signing on fee in lieu of those wages
Yeah, I expect we'll do everything we can to strengthen as much as we can, though I still think any 'free' transfer will take a sizeable bite from our total budget. I trust that we'll do well overall, and that some excellent new players will be running out wearing our black and white in August.

Mentioned above. I just don't see it this season. I can fully envisage us finishing 6-8th next season (after the rigours of mid-week matches) and then him going for £100m but we aren't going to sell him currently unless he wants to leave and refuses to sign the new contract that has been spoken of. I guess we could use the money (and wages) to purchase Madison but don't see why we take apart to rebuild rather than just build more.

CM, CB and attacking winger. Even at big prices those 3 should be within the budget (a LB would also be a strong choice).

I doubt it personally, not while he's playing with his best mate in Europe. If we have a slightly worse season, perhaps we can cash in for £90m as it's a ludicrous amount of money.

"the club believe" it will cost £87m.

I love the way Barcelona have decided their own price tag for him. They ****ing wish they'd get him for that.
