A free transfer for any player at the level we need will require massive wages and massive signing fees. We're sticking to our wage ceiling apparently (though I expect it will be raised a little) so that might rule out a lot.
Yeah, I expect we'll do everything we can to strengthen as much as we can, though I still think any 'free' transfer will take a sizeable bite from our total budget. I trust that we'll do well overall, and that some excellent new players will be running out wearing our black and white in August.

I can fully envisage us finishing 6-8th next season (after the rigours of mid-week matches) and then him going for £100m but we aren't going to sell him currently unless he wants to leave and refuses to sign the new contract that has been spoken of. I guess we could use the money (and wages) to purchase Madison but don't see why we take apart to rebuild rather than just build more. CM, CB and attacking winger. Even at big prices those 3 should be within the budget (a LB would also be a strong choice).
I doubt it personally, not while he's playing with his best mate in Europe. If we have a slightly worse season, perhaps we can cash in for £90m as it's a ludicrous amount of money.
