That's strange. He's valued at €16m on TransferMarkt. Can only think he's looking to move to a bigger club at the end of his contract. Not sure he'd see us as that. Here's his WhoScored profile:

Yes RER, your sentiments with regard to Brereton Diaz make sense. His value puts him out of our league.
He was touted with some big clubs either last season or earlier this season and decided to run down his contract with a view for a move. I think he would be looking for a step higher than us.

Although maybe he and Nunez have struck up a great friendship whilst playing for Chile and he wants to join his mate here :emoticon-0148-yes:

Weren’t we promised a new signing this week by SW? He was very confident.
Pinkun reporters have said it's unlikely to be completed this week. Not sure if that means the deal is off completely, or just taking more time than expected.

Expectation seems to be Max Johnston, a 19 year RB at Motherwell, who was shown around Colney 2-3 weeks ago. Johnston is out of contract with Motherwell, so any deal would be for compensation only. Not sure what that looks like, but probably not a huge sum.

They play there last game of the season on Sunday so perhaps they’ve requested that it isn’t announced until after the game

Looking into it more on twitter, there's a suggestion it's not Johnston as there's too many clubs interested in him, he'll take his time talking to all of them. Hopefully we've put a persuasive offer to him, but Leeds were mentioned and they might be offering Premier League football.

But from his career perspective where is he most likely to get a starting place and career momentum? At his age he needs to increase his standard year on year and for that he needs to be playing. Ask Idah.

Would he get a starting place here if Mumba is coming back to play RB though?

Mumba played 27 games last season at LWB, 9 at RWB, just one at RB. I could easily see Mumba replacing Giannoulis rather than Aarons.

Yeah this is what I am not sure about as well, which is why I said if. Seems more likely considering that is where he has impressed. If we could get Manning and Johnson at RB that would be ideal

Plus do our coaches rate him as a better long term prospect than Bali. And could they recruit Johnston and get a decent fee for Bali? Let's not forget this is still a business.

Shane Duffy on a free transfer is being reported by several sources now, likely to be confirmed after the last round of PL games today.

31 year old CB previously of Brighton and spent the end of last season on loan at Fulham

Signing 33 & 31 year olds is very short term thinking but free transfers fit into our business model .
