We wants players who are proud to wear the red shirt regardless, might eventually regret going to another club, I ,mean (Mac Allister)
When Jurgen came here I was hoping Coutinho would be the last one who saw us as the penultimate rung on the ladder to Madrid/Barca/Bayern. I think there were other reasons than simple ambition why Mane left last summer, but it looks like one bad season and we're back to the days of Stirling and signing Balotelli because Sanchez preferred Arsenal. But I blame FSG, not Jurgen for this - I think players sense the lack of ambition at the club to maintain their top-four status, let alone strive to compete at the very top table again.
players want to go, they get their time and link challenges or the sun or high life or whatever else. mane is a specific case firmino is a specific case, other will be a specific case to them. the fact is mane is not representative (several issues probably in there that he's not got delivered for himself now) coutinho is not representative either as he was promised the moon and stars. firmino is a fairly classic long time players who knows his time is short and wants a big pay day and the sun. I'm willing to bet that he does faff all next season but makes a lot of money. salah took the 350k and that's his choice as well. milner let it slip he thinks someone refused him a new deal when klopp wanted to give it. not so sure about any of that but again not a usual case. liverpool are not top tier. just are not. you can get better money elsewhere. but they are not 3rd rate either. if you go to Brighton you want a step up from there eventually. if that's lfc or it's the next tier up or then the actual premium dream clubs. let's fact it, real and Barca are the dreams for a lot of players. man city or man utd are just not dreams for players but they will pay a lot more money to players who knows though.
... doom and gloom from fans. Why not wait to see where we go from here before the metaphoric defenestration?
Wait? Wait? But we'll be in the blue triangle conference by next weekend.. or worse the blue hexagon. There is no time to wait. The time to moan and panic is now.
Jurgen Klopp has claimed that it would take a massive offer for Liverpool to sell Kelleher in the next transfer window. Tottenham are interested in Kelleher.
Not many players leave us to move on up and those that do soon find that the grass isn't any greener. Those you mention, Coutinho and Mané weren't moving primarily for more money. Don't we have one of the highest wage bills? From the outside it looks like FSG didn't back Klopp but none of us know how much of not signing players was on Klopp. The money was certainly there for Tchouameni. One season on, the money is still there but not to be spent on one player. There was a serious miscalculation in what we needed going into this season and now it's well accepted by the club that a significant rebuild is required. It could have started this time last year but it didn't. We can't go back, only forward. Our league position is unbelievable given the season we've had. A big disappointment but it can be offset by Klopp completing the set. We've got a great core to the team and it's going to get better.
I too am looking forward to klopp possibly getting his hands on a uefa cup. Should have had one in his 1st season really.
Think Coutinho more than doubled his wages when he left so it has to be part of his motivation though Barca was almost certainly the bigger one .
