Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is to face trial accused of tax evasion relating to his time as manager of Portsmouth Football Club.

Mr Redknapp and ex-Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric are charged with two counts of cheating the public revenue.

Two payments totalling $295,000 (about £183,000) were allegedly made by Mr Mandaric, now chairman of Sheffield Wednesday, to Mr Redknapp.

They are due to be tried at Southwark Crown Court on 23 January 2012.

The case is expected to last two weeks.

Mr Redknapp, 64, who lives in Poole, Dorset, recently underwent heart surgery to unblock coronary arteries.

He and Mr Mandaric, 73, who lives in Oadby, Leicestershire, will each face two charges relating to alleged payments to a Monaco bank account opened by Mr Redknapp.

If found guilty, Redknapp may face a custodial sentence. In that scenario, would the club sack him?

Who would take over? Joe Jordan in the short term would be the obvious solution.
With Harry making overtures towards the soon to be vacant England job, has Levy already been scouting for a replacement.

It would be a sad way for Harry to sign off, but the club would have to make a stand.

Thoughts?

If found guilty, I highly doubt the FA would consider him for the job. Might be a blessing in disguise then.

If Harry is found guilty, he won't get the England job, but I would expect Spurs to stand by him, as he has done nothing wrong while with us.

Hahaha the irony of this comment, from the man who was banned from our board for consistent wumming. The bitterness at being found out still seems strong.

I never wummed your board.

By the way, how are Fabregas and Nasri getting on? Oh, wait...!

Never mind, at least RvP (the man carrying your whole team) has signed a new contract with you. Oh, wait...!

As much as it hurts me to say this, I wouldn't classify this thread as a drive-by wumming. PISK poses some sensible questions, all the while avoiding the rather glaring opportunity to have a good gloat at us.

You are a known WUM, your rather contradicting comment right there proved so <ok>

Don't be fooled. He isn't posing his question out of respect for us. He's doing it knowing full well that it is an inflammatory subject, and he'll be sitting back laughing at the wum-fest that's likely to unfold - all to his careful design.

Then again, perhaps I am being too cynical.
