You'd think so but we'll probably draw on Thursday then lose to Fulham so 3rd is yours mate.

I'm, perhaps mistakenly, pretty confident we'll beat Chelsea. Of course it doesn't really matter now so it's no big deal either way but it would have been good to have had 3rd still in our own hands. Minor quibble though, I'd have taken the draw in advance tonight as the idea of bottling 4th was too much to bare.

Nah **** the Toon

I can't recall one of their fans congratulating Spurs for qualifying for the CL last year or the year before or the year before or the year before or the year before.....you catch my drift I'm sure

Or are we all giving a round of congrats like you do to the spastic who eventually finishes a race many have finished many times before?

In which case I kind of understand

I don't recall getting any letters in the post from you congratulating us for qualifying before you guys had.

We play Chelsea before you. We'll probably give them too much respect and gift fat Frank a point at home for no reason whatsoever.

What did you make of that? I thought the lack of ambition when you really needed a win was pretty appalling.

Point is still better than a loss really. If they lost then Everton would just need a draw on the final day to ensure survival. A draw means that Everton need to win on the final day to keep it in their hands (and means that Leicester can ignore Leeds result entirely). So it is still a big difference and feels like that was the game plan but even so a win would have been transformative for them.

I hadn’t considered this.

It's a good result for us too.

Ok we're the least likely of the three team to stay up but if Everton have to chase a win and come unstuck then who knows what could happen in a crazy last 10 mins or so on Sunday.

Haven't got Sky mate, so listened to the radio ... but I do agree ... was pretty obvious from the starting line up that Smith was going not to lose ... gives the advantage to Everton ... we could beat West Ham and still go down ... that would be incredibly frustrating ... but we are where we are because we've been ****e ... that's the reality ... and if we go down it's because we are one of the 3 worse teams ... so be it.

Newcastle’s owners just got about £150m richer.

That’s an increase on their wealth of about 0.0000000002%

It's simply a case of how much we can spend without breaching FFP, unlike a bunch of Premiership teams we actually seem bothered about playing by the rules. Bizarre if you ask me.

Of the three teams you'd be the team I'd prefer to stay up. My dad supports Leeds (he's from there). That's actually true by the way, thought you'd appreciate it @Spurlock

Your optimism is to be applauded.
Leicester take the lead at home to West Ham.
Everton panic and with no striker throw bodies forward but get caught on the break and lose 0-2.
We play a boring match against Spuds and are heading for a 0-0
Moyes throws some subs on and rescues a late point for the Hammers.
Leeds nick a stoppage time winner at Elland Road and we all party like it's 1999.

Oh yeh baby <laugh>

All sounds a bit Jammy to me <whistle>

I'll see you on the Serie A next season.

I have always liked Howe but he has just gone up massively in my estimation.
When asked if getting Newcastle into the CL is his greatest achievement he said "wouldn't say that, keeping Bournemouth in the PL was good for me"

Appreciates the (maybe smaller to sme) triumph over the big ticket one.
