Surrey doing to Kent what we should have done to Kent. Our failure to beat Kent is, for me, far worse than our failure to draw Warks. To have any chance of the title, wins against the likes of Kent and Northants should be a given.
Hampshire have removed two more Northants batsmen - they're now 95 for 4, so it will probably be all over today
I see that Ellis played his last IPL match yesterday. Hopefully that'll mean he'll get over in time for our opening game on Wednesday. It'll be interesting how well received today's opening double-header will be. If it goes down well, it might become a regular way to open the Blast each season.
Monster hit from Du Plooy. Hopefully he'll be doing that regularly for Brave later this season. And on that subject, Conway's form in the IPL has been very good.
As no-one else has mentioned it, I'll point out that Hampshire wrapped up the Northants tail quickly - Northants all out for 176, so Hampshire win by an Innings and 135 runs.
No one mentioned either that Somerset beat Middlesex by an innings and 13 runs. Somerset up to 4th, 12 points behind Hampshire. Rather astonishingly, Somerset currently have more batting points than any other county, which seems an alien concept.
This is the board for fans of Southampton Football Club, who come from all over the world. This thread is to discuss cricket. I think you completely missed the point in the post I quoted. Have another look.
Great win for Somerset to put the might of Middlesex (whom I supported in the past quite fanatically) to the sword or the seaxes to be more precise.
Essex deciding to dangle the carrot. Probably an easier decision to make when Notts are without Duckett.
Albert has just got out for 84 off 30 (with seven 6s) in today's first warm-up match. (Weatherley was out for 21 off 11. Whitely is currently 24* off 16.)
As a general lover of cricket, it's great that there's no England white ball cricket to clash with the Blast this season. But as a Hampshire fan, it'll make it very, very difficult to retain our crown. The likes of Surrey and Lancs won't suddenly have the squads ripped apart halfway through. Without Howell tonight, we've got the same decision as last season as to whether to play the extra batter or the extra bowler. In this case, I'm guessing it's between Currie and Albert.
