But you seriously would say it’s “fascist” ?
    Seriously ?

It's not a million miles away from this jaunty slogan...

Yes I think so. We aren’t talking yellow armbands and gas chambers but it’s reminiscent of Orban or early-mid 30s Germany, for example.

See the problem I have with your argument is that by you equating anything right wing as “fascist”, you then make it far easier for real, actual fascists to come in under a cloak of respectability, and use it against any valid argument against them.
It’s like the right wing press, who label anything from the Left, such as Union heads, as “Marxist”

It’s really not. Look at the last tweet I posted.

    Children - kitchen - church

That could apply in any Western society before the 1960's

Dachau concentration camp was created in 1933, so you may like to rethink that

Can you let me have the location of all concentration and re-education camps in the UK (and don't include four star hotels where illegal immigrants are housed)?

As I said earlier, not replicating every aspect of the Nazis doesn’t mean their words and actions aren’t reminiscent of some of those of the Nazis. Hungary don’t have concentration camps now but I think we’d agree Orban is very far to the right with many policies.

Orban is close to, and has immigration policies virtually identical to, Vladimir Putin.

So, doesn't that make him far to the Left?

Putin has little in common with previous far left regimes IMO but the political spectrum is more of a circle than a line. Far left leaders tend to be pretty brutal too.

Which Far Left regimes differed materially from Putin's?

Let’s go with Chairman Mao and see what fascinating insights you come back with.

How would you describe the society you are reading about in Nineteen Eighty Four mate?

I prefer totalitarian over fascist, Stalinist, Maoist and so on; captures the intent rather than the origin in race/class etc.

The National Conservative stuff is proto totalitarian but probably won’t evolve any further because the people involved are chiefly interested in money.

    In my opinion.

Maoism is based on Marxist-Leninism. Mao was a dictator for life like Putin. He purged those who opposed him, and ignored his military comanders like Putin. He ruled through disorder like Putin.

So his communist regime was like Putin's in many ways. The main difference I can see is that his foreign policy wasn't expansionist in the way that Putin's clearly is.

But otherwise, they're peas on a pod imo

It may not be fascist yet, but I find the whole thing quite disturbing. It has the very cloak of respectability that you describe but is highly sinister in its nature and is connected to radical right in the US.

I predict we'll see more of what worries you. The Guardian : "The archbishop [of Canterbury] cited forecasts from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimating that the climate crisis alone would lead to at least 800 million more refugees by 2050."

Terrifying if true. Even if we had the houses, we don't have the infrastructure. Room in Russia and Belorussia for a clean sheet build, but fat chance given the prejudices there...

So do you also think that people like Mick Lynch who stand up for working class people are “Marxist” ?
