What is the news on Kranjcar's injury? He is not listed on physioroom, but i'm told that is notoriously unreliable.
Don't know the latest WY, my guess is that Niko is months not weeks away, but he's nowhere near the player VDV is anyway.

That's constructive![]()
I'm sure we will miss VdV if he is out for any length of time, but it does give the Ade/Defoe partnership a chance to blossom(or not),althougth Defoe does seem to look hungry and fit atm. We'll also see how good our squad really is.
Hope Sandro is ok also, but was nice to see he scored his 1st goal for Brazil.
The January window is always fraught with danger as Chelsea and Liverpool found out last season,so as HiaG says it doesn't always work.
Lets just hope the injuries aren't to bad and we don't get anymore.HATE INTERNATIONAL BREAKS.
I know you love VdV G10 and for good reason he is a great player. The only problem with him is his susceptibilty to carry an injury, although this season he's been alot better. My point really is:Without him we will see how good our squad is with the loss of one of our most important players. It's like King, we all know how much better we are when he's playing.Lets just hope that Defoe and Ade can strike up a goal scoring partnership, thus if VdV is out for a long time we still have a potent strike force.Fair comments Pat, but for me JD isn't as good as VDV and I'm not talking just in terms of effectiveness, although the stats show clearly that VDV is more effective in terms of goals per game in Prem games.

VDV is a player who brings joy and beauty to the pitch, as did my namesake on here, for example. I haven't seen a better finisher than VDV since the days of Greaves, and I just love the passes and interplay that VDV gets involved in.
If you want a debate, forget the 'rubbish' stuff and we can have one.
Of course you will miss VDV - he is your top scorer and is one of those players that is really difficult to mark, and rarely gives the ball away.

GDS gets an opportunity at last?
One would hope so. I suppose that all depends upon whether or not he has done enough to prove to Harry that he has changed his ill-disciplined ways off the training field.
Fair enough Pat, but I don't want to miss a week of watching VDV let alone a month or more.I know you love VdV G10 and for good reason he is a great player. The only problem with him is his susceptibilty to carry an injury, although this season he's been alot better. My point really is:Without him we will see how good our squad is with the loss of one of our most important players. It's like King, we all know how much better we are when he's playing.Lets just hope that Defoe and Ade can strike up a goal scoring partnership, thus if VdV is out for a long time we still have a potent strike force.
So, what do you think this was all about?
(HIAG debate comments used to justify his "rubbish" accusation)
"We got 4th without VDV before now, and we can do it again. We are not a one-man team. My betting is that without VDV, Harry will be reminded of just how creative we are with Defoe poaching off the shoulder of the last defender, and with both our wide men being used to their full effect.
We have been brain-washed into believing that we need VDV in order to win anything, when clearly that is hogwash. My believe, anyway, is that the only reason VDV plays every game he is fit is because there is a clause to that effect in his contract. Now that he is forced into not being able to play, Harry will be able to set the team up differently and get us playing how we played in the season we got 4th, before VDV joined.
And as for City being a different team now, that may be true; but, by the same token, Arsenal is no longer the team that it once was. It's swings and roundabouts. Plus, I truly believe that Chelsea is there for the taking."

Of course you will miss VDV - he is your top scorer and is one of those players that is really difficult to mark, and rarely gives the ball away. That said, the extent of the injury is not known.. Might only be a couple of weeks.
I detest the international breaks also - the Dutch game against Germany is giving me nightmares as they'll be kicking lumps out of each other (It is like England vs Scotland x 5).
Dos Santos hasn't justified his starting position in the Europa League games, let alone a starting place in the first XI.
.
I also think though VDV has shown he deserves to be the focus of the attack, that losing him won't make as much difference as losing Adebayor or Parker, and, I think, Sandro or Friedel as well. Replacing him with Defoe, Sandro or Kranjcar (when fit) are all potentially good options, and they all may give Modric a bigger role.
While I can't see it happening, I would like to try GDS. For one thing, he's the closest equivalent Spurs have to VDV: a creative player who needs to have the team built around him.
