I'm sure we will miss VdV if he is out for any length of time,but it does give the Ade/Defoe partnership a chance to blossom(or not),althougth Defoe does seem to look hungry and fit atm.We'll also see how good our squad really is.
Hope Sandro is ok also,but was nice to see he scored his 1st goal for Brazil.
The January window is always fraught with danger as Chelsea and Liverpool found out last season,so as HiaG says it doesn't always work.
Lets just hope the injuries aren't to bad and we don't get anymore.HATE INTERNATIONAL BREAKS.

Fair comments Pat, but for me JD isn't as good as VDV and I'm not talking just in terms of effectiveness, although the stats show clearly that VDV is more effective in terms of goals per game in Prem games.

This season in terms of Prem goals and assists VDV leads the way again, JD is outdoing him in Europe, but as VDV isn't in the Europa squad, it's not a fair comparison.
VDV is a player who brings joy and beauty to the pitch, as did my namesake on here, for example. I haven't seen a better finisher than VDV since the days of Greaves, and I just love the passes and interplay that VDV gets involved in.
I know you love VdV G10 and for good reason he is a great player.The only problem with him is his susceptibilty to carry an injury,although this season he's been alot better.My point really is:Without him we will see how good our squad is with the loss of one of our most important players.It's like King, we all know how much better we are when he's playing.Lets just hope that Defoe and Ade can strike up a goal scoring partnership,thus if VdV is out for a long time we still have a potent strike force.

My believe, anyway, is that the only reason VDV plays every game he is fit is because there is a clause to that effect in his contract. He's top goal-scorer because Harry (for what ever reason) has persisted playing him over JD. One could say that Harry is justified in persisting with him given the dire performance of our strikers last season, but I would counter that by saying that Harry's extensive use of VDV last season upset our balance of play (as far as our strikers were concerned), and that when we return to our usual 4-4-2 with us making extensive use of our wing-play, we'll be just as effective. As we were before VDV, when we made 4th for the first time in our EPL history.
I am really disappointed with some of the Spurs fans who see only the negative in VDV's injury. We are not a one-man team, unlike you Gooners

One would hope so. I suppose that all depends upon whether or not he has done enough to prove to Harry that he has changed his ill-disciplined ways off the training field.
Dos Santos hasn't justified his starting position in the Europa League games, let alone a starting place in the first XI.

If the injury is as serious as some fear, how will it affect our January shopping? Will we push through a deal for Hoilett, loan in Amuri, will we wind up having both of Man City's 2009-10 strike partnership on loan for the second half of the season, or is there someone sle the tabloids haven't linked us to in order to put an extra £5m on the transfer value?

Yep Jayram, we will miss VDV. As you imply, the only good thing from Spurs POV. but bad from Arsenal's. is that presumably VDV won't play v Germany, whereas RVP will.
Agreed PNP, GDS is way off starting, I'd start Livermore before him, for example, and so I suspect would Harry.
I also think though VDV has shown he deserves to be the focus of the attack, that losing him won't make as much difference as losing Adebayor or Parker, and, I think, Sandro or Friedel as well. Replacing him with Defoe, Sandro or Kranjcar (when fit) are all potentially good options, and they all may give Modric a bigger role.
While I can't see it happening, I would like to try GDS. For one thing, he's the closest equivalent Spurs have to VDV: a creative player who needs to have the team built around him.

GDS isn't half the player VDV is, I would prefer Livermore to him. WE really will have problems if we substitute GDS for VDV, luckily as you say, it won't happen.
We'll probably go 4-4-2 with JD and Ade as a first option.
While the team might not miss VDV as much as Ade or Parker, on a personal note I would, as I prefer watching VDV to either of those two, although both are key to the cause I agree.
We've got a good enough squad to beat the bottom-half teams even with 5 or 6 players missing, but that doesn't mean we will play as well or look so good without VdV who is a class act.
I'd rather see us play 433 all the time as i think it works better against the top teams and equally well against the others
