A similar player sales/income comparison analysis would show that under SC and Burt, we made no money and we’re heading straight back to the 3rd division, and wouldn’t have had the money to buy the said pint of milk…. But you Wiz and RP keep bashing the club for its forward thinking approach, and wanting to join the elite, rather than the same old yo yo club between div 2 & 3 that characterises the clubs history.
If we looked at the clubs finances 2013 - 2016 versus 2016 - 2020, there is a vast difference in the way the club operated. The losses created by Johnson/Ashton are not similar, neither is the legacy where BCFC have had to enter a significant period of radical financial adjustment.
Yes. Steve Cotterills small squad had investment to gain promotion. The FC did not make money. The club operated with a manageable debt. Yes. Lee Johnsons squad was double the size, had unparalleled investment, the club created record losses, debt increased massively, auditors raised concerns in the annual accounts about the long term safety of the FC, and the club has gone into a significant period of radical financial adjustment to recover. Football clubs do not have to be ran in this manner to maintain Championship status, or to compete for promotion - Nigel Pearson's team and this seasons play off contenders do not operate in the manner BCFC did.
SL fell asleep there. SL's backing of the Mark Ashton/Lee Johnson kid in a sweet shop pin on a donkies arse spending policy was bizarre. We all know bullshitters, we can easily see them when the bullshit goes on for months and years. maybe its was all the bullshit LJ and MS came out with hypnotised SL! Hopefully Pearson will get a little of the icing of all the cake with party poppers and fizzy pop LJ got to improve City as he has earned it.
