Imagine having a manager who deliberately dumps you out of every competition to go all in on the league and then end up finishing with nothing.
The coneman cometh.
The coneman cometh.
So basically they did really really well to have that many points so early but didn't have the depth of squad to maintain it that City have? You must log in or register to see media

It's been pointed out so many times that you hit a perfect storm, not one of the bigger teams were involved that season as they were all in decline or transition. We won it in 2015/16 with a much shallower squad than the Goons have ... whole squad cost less than £25 million ... Goons can bring players off the bench that cost more than that total ... major difference = backbone ... we had it in buckets ... or to quote the title of a Mel Gibson film ... "We Were Soldiers"![]()

Yes you took the initiative and stepped up really well but the years after (and before) that tell the story.
Will forever be in PL folklore though![]()

By backbone, I assume you mean N'Golo Kante? He's the only significant player you lost that Summer and then you finished 12th the season after, level with Stoke with a GD of -15. Where did the backbone go?

Champions to Championship in 7 seasonsWe did reach the quarter finals of the Champions League the following season ... the major difference (besides Kante - who went on to win another title with Chelsea that season) was that Wes Morgan and Robert Huth just couldn't sustain the performance level of the previous season ... transpired to be their glorious swansong ...![]()
