That's sort of the point, he's a midfielder whose main job isn't to score or assist yet he's doing it. How many goals and assists has our midfield produced this season?

Anyway, scratch what I said because I've only just realised he's on loan so will be going back to his club.
he plays the same position as Salah i.e. on the right of a front 3
Son , Kane , Kulesevski (sp)

they would and may still take up the option they have to make it permanent

He’s a wide forward whose main job is to score goals and create chances. He’s barely done either of them this year.

You can’t compare him to our midfield. Better comparison is to Salah s that’s the position he plays.

we need to stop paying what other clubs demand as half of them are now reliant on transfer fees to pay the bills . The new policy should be squeeze them and if they don't play ball move to next target..

Hope that's sarcasm <laugh>

Edit...

i'm tight as **** me <laugh>

we regularly pay top price even when it may not be necessary .

Obviously not then. We always penny pinch, plenty on here grumble about us doing it all the time.

we don't what we regularly do is spend top dollar on one player and then having little left buy whoever we can still afford .
Even all these years later i struggle to understand why we paid more than Keitas release clause

No, we spend bigger on one player but rarely pay top whack. We even try to negotiate when a player has a reasonable release clause.

I'm all for penny pinching btw

Yeah, it's not my money and I'm not an accountant, but obviously if we save £10million on a player enough times we eventually have enough to buy the next Derek Asamoah!

There are times when can be too frugal however, but in general, yes, should spend as little as possible on the best possible.

We paid the release clause when it became valid and paid money on top to "reserve" him for the year. You can argue whether he was worth it but it guaranteed we got the man we wanted.

From my POV that is lunacy as pay release clause and then sign him period no need to let him stay for another year while paying them to have an extra year of him playing for them .
As an aside i am fully convinced that buying an established player and letting him stay at the selling club for another whole season is a recipe for disaster as the home fans tend to blame the player for anything that goes wrong though buy in Jan let him stay till summer is almost the opposite.

just buy value.

whatever the price we should get value and then work that player

I've no issue with a Bradley or three at low.money if they represent value to the club long term

I've no issue with an ugarte, diaz, nunez or whoever else comes in from Portugal if they are worth more in resale.

we cannot be joining to lunatics at Chelsea and utd or morons at arsenal who think they are in that class.

we need to see value from signings.

imo our error has been holding players that should have shifted long ago and seeing absolutely nothing back at all. keita, origi, Phillips, oxlade represent a fundamental error at boardroom level.

klopp will hold these guys till they fall over frankly. it was Edwards to get shut of wijnaldum and who sparked the fight with klopp that say red lines drawn and Henderson long contract as a result.

Edwards did fundamentally the wrong thing in klopps opinion there and since then it's been a power battle.

My understanding is that with release clauses, you have to pay the full amount up front. By paying a premium and letting him stay another year, it allows us to structure the payment in a way that is better for us i.e. less up front, more instalments.

sounds unlikely to me but if true we need our heads examining .

Was reading up on it but it's quite common practice. Not many clubs are cash rich so paying fees up front is quite challenging. We often pay fees in installments.

On the flip side, when we sell players, clubs will try and pay us in instalments as well however we sell that 'debt' to a 3rd company so that we can receive the cash up front (minus a fee).

err but the premium was surely upfront so blows that theory out of the water and clubs rarely demand the full fee upfront though reputedly Everton not only did but got it for Richarlison <laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>

As I said I don't watch him play so you know better than me mate <ok>
Last season he was excellent and his statsa were far better than diaz for example but this season he has been miles off though he wasinjured and it looks like he isn't over it yet . Some of the Spurs fans think he has been played so much purely to trigger the option to buy though after his form this season that has now got to be in doubt particularly since they have no manager or DoF .

Well I'm right off him now. So it's a no to any Spurs players from me.
