The Irish Independent claim that we, along with Brighton and Brentford, are looking to sign Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool this summer On paper you'd think that'd be a bad call, given the Scouse Cheats only really play him in the cups and the amount of Premier League matches he's played can be counted on one hand - but then you see Brighton and Brentford are both looking at him and immediately the reported £20m fee sounds like a risk worth taking
Signed him for Spurs on footy manager in summer 2023. Was a decent option tbf. Think we paid £17million for him. In summer 2024 signed the Ukraine number one though who is now my established number one and Kelleher is back up.
On paper Kelleher would probably need a season to settle in, which would likely say Hugo sees out the last year of his contract while Kelleher gets regular cup games and the occasional European* runout as he grows into our No1 TBH I'm wondering if Hugo's told the club he plans to retire when his contract expires next summer
Considering he's started to pick up injuries more frequently in the last couple of seasons, his body would probably handle one game a week better than two games
He's looked like a top, top prospect whenever he's played. He's being kept out of the side by one of the best in the world so it isn't something to hold against him. £20m for a season of Pool fans boiling piss is a bargain in this day and age.

Bazunu's looked a lot better than him for Ireland and he's recently turned 21. He's struggled at a rather **** Southampton, but I think he'll turn it round in the long term. Brighton and Brentford eyeing up Kelleher may point to something unseen, though.

I was under the impression the buy clause was triggered by both conditions, not either/or. From a purely football standpoint, Romano's tweet is from last year. Things have changed since then and while I'd still be inclined to make it permanent, I would also understand it if we didn't. He's been really poor all season, a shadow of the player he was when he first joined. Our system hasn't helped one iota but I do think his game is a bit too one-dimensional in that it relies on cutting inside to shoot or cross with his stronger foot, and opposition teams who were initially taken by surprise have very quickly worked out how to deal with his threat. He's still young and with good coaching will learn how to evolve his game, but here again: whoever the new manager is, they may look at his performance levels this season and decide that they'd rather not gamble £30m on him.
A lot of Deki's problems this season can be pinned to us making sure he passes that 50% appearance threshold even though the way he's performed for a large chunk of this season suggests he hasn't completely recovered from the injury he picked up in the autumn That being said, we have two clauses in the deal: the option to sign him for €30m, which is still available this summer as it was last year, and the mandatory clause where we'd pay €35m based on 50% appearances/CL qualification - in other words, plenty of reason to believe Schira is talking merda
