The NBA teams always had their home kit, an away black and an away white kit. Made sense and kept it simple.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the white kit is a staple of all/most American sports.
I honestly think the distance between franchise cities means away kits are not something that really means anything outside England. I really don't know thst other leagues even think about second and third kit as commercial revenue never mind driving it like the English clubs do.
I doubt yanks have any interest in their nfl or mls or baseball teams away kit. most don't travel I'd say so it's home kits only.

it's pure and utter milking thst somehow works and it is beyond my comprehension as I wouldn't go wearing logos and colours anywhere cos it looks stupid.

The big clubs (Real, Barca, Juve, etc) certainly do.

Prob cos in America only have about 12 teams per competition so have more than enough colours to share around.
Which South American country is it that heavily regulates team colours so no two teams have too similar looking home kits?
I want to say Argentina, that's why so many of their clubs have stripes or hoops because in order to not duplicate another team's colours you have to use more than one colour in your home kit.
I could be wrong, it could be a different country.
It would be nice if we could force United to not use red. As the last red team to win the Premier League, we should have first pick at red. They can go be pink or something.

Oh, does MLS do that too?
Honestly, never paid MLS much attention. Wanted to go watch Charlotte's new team play but couldn't find a way to buy tickets that didn't involve ticketmaster so I've never been.
So why you all bothered what it looks like then
to make the team itself look like a proper team.
I have to say that back in the day when we got warrior the team looked like a bunch of tramps.

Not a defined colour but they do all have to have a white shirt (home or away) with the other shirt being anything but white. Some have more than two shirts but she applies, one must be white.
(Based on a few years ago now so may have changed)
Takes me back to the Good Old Days. Club colours, and a white alternative if there's a clash. Simple.
Yeah... That sounds right... As stated earlier, I think that's true of all or most American sports and I think is an American thing. 95% sure it's true of Hockey/Baseball... Less sure American Football/Basketball.
I do wish we could go back to the days pre-sponsorship where noone had a sponsored shirt. (Obviously, we have to have one to keep up with the Joneses).. but that classic photo with just a clean red shirt... So much better.
Aesthetically almost every shirt would look better without a big ugly sponsor on the front. As sponsors go, ours isn't the ugliest, but still detracts from the shirt a lot.
