you cant deny that he blames the referee week in week out, and as a neutral it gets very, very boring. AVB is certainly not a likeable character like ancelotti was. yes the refereeing handed out too many cards on that occasion but he should look at his own players and the mistakes they made, at the end of the day the ref had no choice on most of the decisions that day <ok>

He has blamed the referee in the United game and the QPR game and rightly so. I don't see how you think he 'is not a likeable character' either, he had every right to complain about that game as any supporter of Chelsea will tell you. The referee lost us the game against QPR, an important London debry - plain and simple.

he is not likeable because all he does is complain about the referees after pretty much every match, instead of holding his hands up and admitting his players gave no choice to the ref. luiz was stupid for the pen, bosingwa was harsh but he pulled on SWP's shirt, drogba was a stone wall red card, your players lost you the game when they missed chances and their discipline, ashley cole could have had a red at the final whistle but didnt.

AVB comes across as arrogant IMO.

he mocked paul lambert in his MOTD interview after the norwich manager said his side were a bit unlucky, thats another example. anyway he deserves the FA charge, total lack of discipline from his players on the pitch and as a manager himself in terms of abuse to the referee during the game and slating him in the interview <ok>

Mocked? Lambo said it was a dive, he called him blind. Hardly complaining about the referee is it?

i never said it was in that instance if you read my post - i said it was a reason i dont find him a likeable character. he maybe didnt compain about referees that match (because chelsea won, surprise surprise) but he fully deserves this FA charge, i hope they throw the book at him, as he clearly overstepped the line with his comments and conduct. chelsea seem to have a problem with players losing their discipline, maybe if he spent more time concentrating on why his players keep getting carded instead of blaming the referee who has no choice maybe it would help <ok>

Well you replied to my post as if that was a clear example of what you were saying, fact is he has only complained after two games - I can't say any more other than that.

I remember Mourinho use to train the players using different types of scenarios: bad refs, injuries, and even sloppy play. Its called playing to the whistle and the refs word is final - quite simply we lost the plot because we were losing to an inferior team that were aided & abetted by some appalling refereeing.

I guarantee that there will be more days like this and in order to combat it we need to regain our "mental toughness" - as for AVB' punishment we should know by now that we will not get any even-handed treatment from the FA given their judgements on dodgy refs, Colegate & indeed Hunts attempted decapitation of Cech. Better pre-match preparation is the key for a happier outcome at our away fixtures.

Look Swamp--AVB, as far as the non-Chelsea fans are concerned was a complete unknown before August. With just a few matches on his record, everyone now seems to be an expert on his gifts and shortcomings! It is reassuring to everyone who loves football and Chelsea, that they call a spade a spade, and thats what all Chelsea did after the QPR game! The match was allowed to drift into a free for all, because Hoy did not impose his authority in the right way. A good ref wlould have called the 2 captains together after 20 minutes and told them that unless they took responsibility for their actions and played with the right spirit and within the rules, they would be disciplined. All Mr Foy did was hand out cards continually , but only only to Chelsea players.
The FA seem to be very sheepish about taking their refs to task , which I guess is the reason ABV saw red. Perhaps its the FA that should be on trial!

I'm sure, and I'm sure you are too , that there has been plenty of debate within the club and loads of lessons learned from the QPR game! My guess is that the brass upstairs will have said to all concerned " Cool it--or else"

Chelsea - Probably the most graceless losers in the history of the game (manager, players & fans)

Why have you said this bc7? There has been a good rational debate about the match from both QPR and Chelsea on this board! In none of it was there any mention of a lack of grace! A lack of balance and judgement from Hoy possibly, but we at Chelsea have taken his shortcomings on the chin! We will move on!
