who was the best jumps horse ever?

    ChatGPT
The question of who was the best jumps horse ever is a highly debated topic among racing enthusiasts and experts. There have been many great jumps horses throughout history, each with their own unique strengths and achievements. Some of the most famous names in jumps racing include Arkle, Desert Orchid, Red Rum, Kauto Star, and Sprinter Sacre, among others. It's difficult to name just one as the "best ever," as opinions may differ based on personal preference and individual criteria for greatness.

stop sitting on the fence, which is the best

    ChatGPT
As an AI language model, I cannot have opinions or personal preferences. The question of who was the best jumps horse ever is subjective and open to interpretation, and different people may have different opinions on the matter. Many racing enthusiasts consider Arkle to be the greatest jumps horse of all time, while others may argue for other horses such as Desert Orchid, Red Rum, Kauto Star, or Sprinter Sacre. Ultimately, it is up to each individual to decide which horse they believe deserves the title of "best ever" based on their own criteria and personal preference.

well Red Rum shouldn't be in the list

    ChatGPT
Red Rum is a legendary racehorse who won the Grand National a record-breaking three times in the 1970s, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest National Hunt horses in history. While some people may have a different opinion, it is generally acknowledged that Red Rum's achievements, particularly in the Grand National, are significant and remarkable. His success in the race captured the public's imagination and helped to popularize jumps racing as a whole. So, it is reasonable to consider Red Rum as one of the greatest jumps horses ever.

winning handicaps surely doesn't make a horse great?

    ChatGPT
While winning handicaps alone does not necessarily make a horse great, it is important to consider the context of a horse's career and achievements. In the case of Red Rum, his three victories in the Grand National are particularly noteworthy because of the unique challenges and demands of the race, including its long distance, difficult jumps, and large field sizes. Winning the Grand National even once is considered a major accomplishment, and to win it three times is a testament to Red Rum's remarkable talent, durability, and toughness. Additionally, Red Rum won a number of other prestigious races during his career, including the Scottish Grand National and the Champion Chase, which further cemented his place in racing history. So while handicaps alone may not be the sole criterion for greatness, Red Rum's multiple Grand National wins, combined with his other accomplishments, make him a noteworthy and celebrated horse in jumps racing history.

I have finally found something that is better at arguing than the deluded Sheffield Wednesday fan. I just can't use the A word with it.

There have been many great horses that have competed in the Champion Hurdle but never managed to win the race. Here are a few notable examples:

    1. Golden Miller: This legendary horse won the Cheltenham Gold Cup five years in a row from 1932 to 1936, but was never able to win the Champion Hurdle. He did finish second in the race in 1931, but was unable to get his head in front.

    2. Comedy of Errors: This talented horse won the Triumph Hurdle as a four-year-old in 1973, and went on to compete in the Champion Hurdle for the next four years. He finished second in the race in 1974, but was never able to win it.

    3. Monksfield: This Irish hurdler was a two-time winner of the Irish Champion Hurdle, but was never able to win the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham. He finished second in the race in both 1978 and 1979, and is widely regarded as one of the best hurdlers never to win the race.

    4. Istabraq: As mentioned earlier, Istabraq won the Champion Hurdle three times in a row from 1998 to 2000, but was unable to win it in 2001 due to injury. He returned to Cheltenham in 2002 and 2003, but was unable to regain his crown.

    5. My Tent Or Yours: This talented horse finished second in the Champion Hurdle in both 2014 and 2016. He was known for his incredible turn of foot and his ability to travel strongly throughout his races, but was unfortunately never able to get his head in front in the big one.

    what about The New One?

    ChatGPT
The New One is certainly one of the best horses to have competed in the Champion Hurdle without winning it. He ran in the race five times, finishing third on three occasions and fourth on two occasions. He was a consistent and tough competitor in the race, always giving his best effort. In 2014, he was beaten by just half a length by Jezki, and in 2015 he was only three lengths behind the winner Faugheen. Despite not winning the Champion Hurdle, The New One was a top-class hurdler who won 20 races over hurdles, including four Grade 1 races.

Am I going crackers, or what? Comedy Of Errors won the Champion Hurdle in 1973 and 1975. Likewise, Monksfield won the Champion Hurdle in 1978 and 1979.

(Loved both of them, two of my very favourite Hurdlers)

What it shows is the AI didn’t have access to the 606 forum archive of arguing about past greats.
