If Big Sam keeps you up you’ll avoid a relegation battle next season if he stays. I love the bloke, done a great job at Sunderland and we played good football under him too.
For us I know one thing, we need more players. We need to just cut up the contracts of some of the ones we have if we can't shift them and bring in some talented players. We need a CB to help relieve Botman and Schar, we cannot have Lascelles back in. We need a CM to help cover those guys, if one of our CMs is out the entire thing falls apart. Maddison is my pick, perhaps Mount will be available for cheap too. LB & RB too. Who takes over if Trippier is injured? RW is needed, they're just not good enough for europe, simple as, Gordon isn't there yet. LW needs cover, if Isak is in the middle or worse, injured, we have no one to cover. Then we need a striker because Wilson will be 31 next year, we need a replacement.
As long as he is still being noticed that means we are relevant Don’t want to get to the day when people aren’t talking about us
You said noticed, like Brighton have been "noticed" but that is in the full knowledge that Brighton are one bad manager away from a collapse. Brighton are like that team you pat on the head and say "oh wow, they play nice football." When you're hated, that means you've overstayed your welcome and the top 6 are feeling their place is under threat.
He was alright for a few month but then it all fell apart. Most of that was down to the owners at the time though, tbf.
I've seen three current Prem clubs that have done that, Wolves, Southampton and Leeds, I've not included Leicester because that was further back and my lot were in L2 when they came to L1. Of the current Prem I have seen about seven of those teams pass into/through L1 or L2 during my time... Brighton (they actually ground shared with us), Brentford, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Wolves, Leeds, Southampton. I've only included those seven, there might be another one or two, but the brain matter fades.
Seven of the current league one top ten are ex premier league, with only Ipswich looking like getting back into the championship. Not sure this two divisions thing is such a great idea!
No point in my lot coming to the Prem, if we were to do that, we needed to do it when Brighton redeveloped. We have been on a run since Jan when the new American owner came in, so next season looks promising, worth a small bet if anyone is asking - we are managing to keep the main skeleton of the team together with new contracts, just waiting on one player now. Then whatever new players are bought/brought in during the summer. In short I will be disappointed with what I've seen in growth, if we don't at the very least achieve play-offs next season, but the goal has to be autos, if we can bring in a couple of decent players.
Once they come down to us they get a culture shock lol. I've only seen one team bounce straight out with confidence, and that was Norwich City, which is not good by any stretch of the imagination.
Would like to see Big Sam do the business with Leeds and laf at everyone for doubting him putting his reputation on the line a bit though with only 4 games to do his magic
