No takers ? The place was apparently the capital of England for 5 days - despite this claim to fame Charles Dickens claimed it to be the dullest, most stupid, place on Earth ! A County Town and one of Britain's newest cities its football club has been using the title of city for 74 years longer than It's been entitled to.
Nope, sorry Yorkie. The football club still uses 'city' in it's name, as it has done for over 80 years (only with justification for about 10 of those)
All yours Yorkie. Richard the Second moved the seat of government there between 1st of July and 6th of July 1381 during the so called Peasants Revolt. Charles Dickens' comments about the town appear to be as a result of not being able to buy a newspaper there. Anyway Chelmsford City FC have been calling themselves (and been called that) for 80 years despite only actually becoming a city in 2012.

It certainly is. The SS Montevideo Maru, a Japanese transport ship, which was torpedoed by an American submarine off the island of Luzon on 1st July 1942 whilst transporting over 1000 prisoners, mainly Australian servicemen and civilians, to a POW camp after the Japanese captured them in Rabaul. Found recently lying in deeper waters than the Titanic, it's to be left in situ, along with the remains of all the passengers. Over to you.
