Wages Maybe?

We are still in a scenario where we need to be careful not to disrupt the dressing room and we can't afford (yet) to compete with clubs offering the crazy wages many players expect these days.

Not everyone will buy into the Toon 'project' the way Tripps, Bruno etc. did and some just want what they can get right now.

So yeah, it's very possible that the likes of Maddison will still see Spurs as bigger than us atm. We have black n white tinted glasses and assume everyone now wants to come here. Whereas in reality, Maddison might look at the £££s on offer elsewhere (and our history) and query whether we are his right move.

Fair enough, but if that is the case then we simply move on to another target.

I think most players who are note “elite” will consider us.

Finishing top 4 is a magnet for players. But they have to be the right ones.

I actually think Maddison is a done deal.

Newcastle might still require 7 points there's still a long way to go.
 
If only Joe Kinnear was still here, he'd be travelling around the country, and coming back saying there's some really good signing from the championship we can make, like Isaac Hayden and Ciaran Clark.
