To save people enduring the Echo website the key points are

Tony Mowbray without 8 senior players at West Brom due to injury. They are due back at:

    Ross Stewart; end of pre-season
    Corry Evans, ACL; autumn
    Aji Alese; pre-season
    Elliot Embleton; pre-season
    Jewison Bennette; pre-season
    Danny Batth; pre-season
    Niall Huggins; pre-season
Dan Ballard; soon, but probably not risked before pre-season

As long as there's a comprehensive review into how we got the the end of a season with half a squad out. I dread to think how many points this has cost us.

That cryotherapy chamber seemed to help unless it was a coincidence that injuries slowed right down while we had it. Looks like they cost £10-20k.

So 5 games (hopefully) without a recognised centre half to win promotion, big ask but if any club could pull off something as ridiculous as that it’s us

Think it was more down to the medical team and the procedures that was put in place at the same time. Players were closely monitored for fatigue, wearing some electronic monitor that sent data to the medical and training teams and light sessions would be given to players showing signs of fatigue/close to injury. Or that is what I remember reading at the time!

Rings a bell, I've got no idea how much of that sort of thing we do now but if we don't then we clearly need to look into it.

Iirc several (not all ) of our injuries were caused by bad tackles rather than hamstrings/achilles etc

It cost £100k I believe and the story was that Defoe was the only player who used it, and Martin Bain when he had a bad back!! So I'm not sure it was a reason behind any lack of injuries. Some of Allardyce's methods must have been though.

Yeah it coincided with Allardyce's time so just as likely it was something he was doing. Always been a mystery to me though why some seasons you barely have any issues and others you're crippled, it's hard to believe that different managers have such wildly different methods.

But then again when you have a season like this one it's hard to believe that it's all down to bad luck <confused>

I think Allardyce was very forward thinking in things like that, apparently always had been interested in doing the latest and best thing!

However there is one area where he was as old school as they come! Lining his own pocket from the agents involved in transfers to the way he lost the England job proved it!

They'll all have to reintroduce themselves to the other squad members at pre season....like signing 8 new players.<laugh>

Me too because he's picking up a good wage every week and he's contributed feck all since he signed.
Id love to he able to turn up to work and do light duties on full pay but unfortunately the real world doesnt work like that

Decision needed in the summer about this lad. Is he fit? Can he stay fit? Can he contribute to the team/squad?

If any of those answers are "no" then I think it's time to pay him off. 2 years, 4 starts and only 1 in the league

Yeah i agree mate. Mowbray hinted a few months ago that he needed to overcome his injuries mentally which basically means man the feck up.
