http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15692626.stm Pretty stupid in my opinion after the performance Foy attempted. His terribly inept refereeing was something to behold
I said a lot of things about Foy , that were far worse than AVB's comments, and I haven't been charged with anything, not even improper conduct!
I think AVB had every right to voice his opinion at the total ineptitude that was Foy. He knew he would be censured but proved he's no soft touch when things have to be said. One could well argue the case that there were two ****s out there
What did Foy really do so wrong? The Drogba red card was fairly obvious, the Bosingwa one was more debatable but the majority of 'experts' have agreed with it, for what that's worth, the penalty was ridiculous stupidity by Luiz, and the Lampard and Luiz penalty shouts would both have been extremely harsh and smacked of the players throwing themselves over as they expected a penalty given what had happened earlier. We could probably have had an extra yellow card or two but I don't think Foy honestly did too badly, it was just a case of some marginal decisions for once not going the way of the bigger side.
Same amount of fouls, complete difference in cards is the most glaring point for me, yellows I mean... Bosingwa's red was harsh but it happens, Drogba's was just plain stupid, and Lampards penalty was nailed on...through my eyes anyway
Drogba - yes. Bosingwa - no. He was generally just giving everything your way and being overly strict on us. I don't think Luiz' challenge was a penalty, minimal contact and you QPR fans have slated Drogba for diving and Helga did exactly the same.
Chelsea's fouls were, in general, a bit more cynical (I'm thinking Cole on Barton in particular). It was a while ago now but I remember thinking Clint Hill should have been booked but nothing more from our lot. To say Lampard's penalty was 'nailed on' is one-eyed in my opinion.
He went down easily but I think you'd struggle to find a referee that wouldn't agree with the decision.
As everybody agrees Drogba yes, Bosingwa No! watching it from the front SWP is holding Bosingwas arm as he leaned into him and both were holding yet Foy only seemed to punish Chelsea, Lampard's claim was nailed on as proved and agreed by all pundits and Luiz was wrestled to the floor by Helga who had his arms completely around him. As we know Foy didn't want to see that and he deserves to be punished by refereeing 1st divison football after a three week ban. We all have bad days at the office and it wasn't the defeat or loss of points that hurts but the manner in which Foy biasedly presided over and seems to have got away with a total shambles.
You can forgive the odd mistake but foy from the outset seemed intent on ruining our afternoon. The boswinga sending off was as soft as they come, not even a foul in my eyes and I wouldn't say it was a clear goal scoring chance especially with shaun 'couldn't hit a cows behind with a banjo' wright phillips on the ball. Possibly the worst finisher to wear a Chelsea shirt this millenium (or maybe Kalou?!?). The drogba one was nailed on but by that time he had already given a very soft pen and an even softer sending off so it was understandable why the players started losing their composure - thus leading to the inevitable card after card after card as frustrations took over. The way the game was refereed influenced the result far more than you see in most games and for that, Foy has had no case to answer yet AVB gets charged for giving an honest appraisal. If you make managers give interviews just after games you have to expect this sort of thing. There is a line but I don't think AVB stepped over it.
