I do agree with the a lot of what’s being said, it didn’t work today and it should never have turned into a basketball match like that.

Not just the TAA stuff but being that vulnerable to a long throw time and again was painful.

Has to be said though, ok there’s no RB outlet for Konate but he also seems to be taking half a day on the ball and allowing himself to get into trouble
You're right, but surely the first part of your sentence goes some way to explaining the second? We're not the sort of team to hoof it aimlessly up-field, and his reduced options contribute to his hesitancy.
Having said that, Virgil was also slow to get his pass away at the start and almost got into trouble more than once.

yeah they were clearly not comfortable with the lack of options they had to play to given both fabinho and trent stood stock still with back to the opponents goal and Henderson and Jones seems to want to run off with back to the cbs to get to the forward line.

if I were a cb knowing I had zero option to play to and felt I was getting that ball straight back from the cms and would be then under pressure I'd not really want to pass in there either.

the moment in second half when trent has ball on half way as a throw and he desires its a great idea to throw it to konate who's nobody as an option by alisson summed it up.
we went back, then alsisson played konate in trouble and then it's a throw for them.much deeper.

all our issues in the game were entirely self inflicted.

Players ratings:

Alisson Becker 8

Fielded one shot from Gibbs-White before even better save from same player after break. No chance with either goal and calmed nerves with some good aerial takes.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 7

Not as much room when stepping into midfield early on but became more dangerous, particularly with set-piece deliveries, two of which helped create goals.

Ibrahima Konate 6

Involved in a battle of physical might up against Awoniyi, which he won first half but found a lot more difficult after break.
Virgil van Dijk 6

A little slow with reactions on occasion defensively and a bit nervy but a threat in the opposing area, one header prompting fine Navas save.

Andy Robertson 7

Plenty of hustle and bustle down the left and swung in some inviting deliveries, not least for second goal. Unlucky deflection for Forest equaliser and set up Jota’s second.

Fabinho 6

Lacked a bit of tempo to his game first half although he kept the ball moving. Subbed.

Jordan Henderson 6

Unable to inject sufficient pace into Liverpool’s play first half but became more prominent as the Reds began to take a hold.

Curtis Jones 6

Involved heavily in the early stages and worked hard but slightly too safe in possession.

Mohamed Salah 7

Very quiet in opening quarter but became more of a threat as space opened up. Took goal brilliantly for Liverpool’s third and work-rate excellent.

Cody Gakpo 6

Smothered by the Forest defence at times but had one effort cleared off line. Subbed.

Diogo Jota 8

Missed big chance first half with free header at far post but made amends with poacher’s first and a great finish for second. Subbed.
Diogo Jota 8

Darwin Nunez (for Gakpo 60) 6

Involved in his usual manner.

Thiago Alcantara (for Fabinho 60) 6

I thought fab had a quietly good game. Snuffed out quite a few counters.

Ratings are too kind for Henderson. He was diabolical as per usual

Maybe, just felt he could be a bit sharper - whether Trent is there as an option or not, you don’t get 10 seconds to get control and get your head up

You might have had some credibility when it comes to Hendo if you hadn't moaned about in him every game for umpteen years regardless of performance <laugh>

he was poor, jones was poor. fairly simple

you've no credibility in this cos you didn't suffer through the game.

This is more of a general comment than specifically about certain players or games, but equating poor with unsuccessful isn't really helpful - they aren't synonyms.
If someone makes the effort but just can't break through then that isn't the same as them just being bad. I've mentioned before how fans see footballers as either brilliant or ****e, when in reality there's a broad spectrum between the two.
I'd be much more likely to want to engage in a conversation that makes an effort towards a balanced analysis and critique rather than just read blatant favouritism.
Tbf though, I've noted before that you hate everyone evenly so at least you're unbiased in that respect. :)

I hold them all to the highest standards.

Henderson at times yesterday was visible half dropping then tuning his back and just jogging on off up the park to virtually an inside right position.

I am at least as equally critical of trents nonsense. I say at least 3 times konate had absolutely no pass so carried the ball on while trent didn't even cover the guy. if konate lost that ball forest were in cos trent didn't even have the brains to slot in.

Jones was simply anonymous. the second half he absolutely vanished from the game imo.

if the intent is to flood a side's defensive line with 5 bodies then you have to do something.

Maybe it’s not Trent’s job to step into cb to cover Konate because that’s Fabinho.

Why you’d you make your best passer drop into defence when you’re in the attack? Makes absolutely zero sense.

that’s like saying when Robbo runs forward with the ball then Jota should drop back into left back to cover for him
