Imagine ur 'arry redknapp. Daniel Levy tells you that you must play Sandro for the nxt few games to cool off the supposed interest in him. Who would you drop?

Parker- would not change our shape but imo parker had been our best player this year. so no

Modric- would make the midfield formidable and almost impossible to get past, but takes away a lot of creativity. so no

Lennon- probably the least famous and popular, but has been playing brilliantly and dropping him would mean pushing bale to the right and losing our shape. so no

Bale- dropping him would let modric play on the left but not change our shape too much. but hes player of the year! so no

VDV- als would not affect the shape and would let modders push on as much as he wants, but he is red hot right now. so no

Ive got no idea, if this did happen arry would be in a pickle. to put it lightly! But i suppose its a good problem right?

    You missed a possibility, SY81.
    Assou-Ekotto.

Not sure that I'd do it, but you could move Bale to left-back, Modric to the left wing and have Sandro and Parker in the centre.
Leave Lennon and van der Vaart where they are.

although BAE has been one of our most consistent players over the last 2 ears IMO

Lennon too, although I wouldn't change our midfield given the choise. I'd assume the Modric and VDV votes were just random passers by that decided to vote without an opinion.

As I've mentioned before, I think Sandro is a better player than Lennon: he would also allow Modric to be deployed further forward.

Van der Vaart doesn't work well on the right, though.
Modric plays better in the deeper role, too.

It would appear that playing with 2 holders shoves too many others out of position, Modric and VdV are less effective given specific sided roles imo, so I wouldn't do it all, if that were to be the case it would be VdV, who was withdrawn v the Goons?...other than that, its a straight swap with Parker.

Lennon or BAE. It has to be one of those two, for me. Depending on who we're playing.

I don't think playing Sandro and Parker pushes anyone out of position. Rather it frees up Modric and VDv to do the damage they are capable of without worrying about defending so much. Bale meanwhile carries on motoring up and down the left, occasionally swapping wings, moving inside, etc, while Walker provides the width on the right.

Having said that, if Lennon continues his current effectiveness there's no need to change the XI despite my wanting Sandro to play. Sandro may not be fit for the Villa game anyway, and as so often happens with Spurs and other teams, it's likely we won't ever have all our best players to choose from at any one time.

Think that's suicide in my opinion PNP. Bale's finally getting back to his best on the left wing and Benny is, in my opinion one of the best full backs around, mega consistent. Lennon, apart from the QPR and Fulham games has looked poor and I'm talking from last season too. Sandro was one of the better players in the second half of our season last year and deserves his place in the starting XI for me.

Drop Lennon, keep Bale left wing, Modric and Rafa can both play fairly centrally behind the striker as Walker can be given the freedom to attack down the right as Sandro and Parker will be there to cover.

Why change a winning team? Sandro needs to take his chances coming off the bench also he will get his chances with injuries etc. Don't get me wrong Sandro is a quality player but so is the likes of Bale, Modric, VDV, Parker, Lennon i just don't see the point of changing the formation or players if at the moment we are getting the points against teams last season we didn't.

The whole point of the article was being in a scenario where you were 'Arry and Levy told you to play Sandro, therefore forcing someone to be dropped. <ok>

I don't think playing Sandro and Parker pushes anyone out of position.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes it does GH, it has to change to formation and set up. The four of Parker, Modric, Bale and Azza is basically a diamond with Modric as its point, free to be as deep or forward as necessary, in general its worked a treat so far. It does leave possibilities of being over-ran though, eg. the Arsenal game, the solution was to withdraw VdV. Imo, Harry has seen VdV's best position as a forward, and I agree, he's not in anyway, an out an out striker or MFer. Lots of managers before have bemoaned 'fitting' VdV in, well it seems Harry has now, as we've seen the trials and errors getting there.

I agree teams like Barca and now City are almost using a defensive 6 (back4, 2holders), with a fluid 4 to go and do damage. That 4 have to be exceptional multi-taskers, ie able to track back, and cover a lot of ground. I don't like seeing VdV subbed or Sandro on the bench, but atm it is a problem. <ok>

Ok fair enough but a manager is manager for a reason and it should be down to the manager to choose not the chairman

Clearly I can't get the point of it's a scenario across to you. So for that reason, I'm out.

Fair comments NSS <ok> But for me the players wouldn't be pushed out of position, they would be in a different position. I think it would be a better one, but until/unless it's tried we won't know about that one way or the other.

Agreed SOS, though as already stated I'm perfectly happy if we line up v Villa as we did v Fulham.

All of them! One at a time to give them a break and then when they have all had the rotation, Harry will have seen the best formation for the critical March/April phase.
