http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...ve-their-problem-left-side-article829103.html Barcelona send chief scout to watch Bale as they prepare £35m bid Barcelona have stepped up their interest in Gareth Bale - and are ready to make a £35m swoop. Barca coach Pep Guardiola sent his chief scout Albert Valentine to spy on the Welsh flier in Tottenham's win at Fulham on Sunday. Reports from Spain say that Guardiola is now keen to make a move for Bale, with Spurs facing a major battle to keep hold of their prize asset. Bale, 22, is under contract until 2015 having signed a new £75,000-a-week deal in March. But Tottenham's resolve is likely to be tempted by Barcelona as the left side is a problem which Guardiola is keen to solve. It is likely they see Bale as an attacking left back as Maxwell, Eric Abidal and Adriano are all seen as weak links. Tottenham held off Chelsea's attempts to sign Luka Modric last summer but Arsenal failed to keep hold of Cesc Fabregas this summer and the reigning European champions may be difficult for Bale to resist. Both Milan clubs and Real Madrid have previously looked at Bale after his impressive form for Spurs in the Champions League. Bale was also given a glowing report by Valentine after scoring and setting up another goal in Spurs' win at Fulham on Sunday. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Views on this? Obviously I would be keen to hold on to Bale for as long as possible, but if we were to sell him a club like Barcelona would be preferable, as they are not direct competition and it would obviously be a move for football reasons rather than money. Completely different to the Modric saga, how much do we think Bale is worth?
£35mm what's that? A deposit of some sort, then? They're having a laugh if they think Levy is going to let Bale go for that sum,
Here we go again not even the transfer window and our big players being linked to big clubs. Can't see Bale leaving hes enjoying his football at the Lane and im sure he has only just signed a new contract Levy would not let him go.
I was thinking on the same lines. 4 years left on a hefty contract (whether it's £75K a week I'm not sure but he won't be far off it). 22 years old and therefore years still to improve. Not many better in his position and yet they think £35m is enough. They need to see the English market, players like Carroll go for £35m and if Torres can go for £50m, f*ck me Barca have a got a lot of work to do! I know this is only paper talk so either the journalist or Barca have been having a few too many drinks I think!
"Barcelona have stepped up their interest in Gareth Bale - and are ready to make a £35m swoop." A few clichés, a phone call to a mate in Spain, lo and behold we have a story. How much do they pay these guys for this 'wonderful' journalism?
I certainly don't want to see Bale in an English rival shirt, not directly after leaving us anyway, but I don't think Gareths ready to fly the nest to go abroad just yet, he pretty much said so last TW, just wanting to concentrate on his contract here. So I think I shall just confine this paper talk to the shredder till Bale says otherwise....if anyone see's him enrolling in a Spanish class let me know!
There is absolutely no way that Levy will agree to sell Bale, at any price. Levy has made it absolutely clear that he has ambitions to win the title and to become a CL regular, and we need more players like Bale to achieve that. Selling players like Bale would be a step backwards for us. We are going to have to get used to this kind of attempted sabotage. The more it looks like we are going to be winners, the more we are going to come under attack from teams who feel threatened by us, and that includes those teams against whom we will be competing in the CL. And, yes, talk of a mere £35 million is a complete joke and proves that the story is nothing more than a wind-up. £60 million would have been more realistic, but still would not be enough to tempt Levy to sell one of his magic boys.
Bale's playing well so it's expected that the tabloids are going to step up their rumours about him. If we'd sold him I'd expect the fee to be around or over £50mill, we've already shown that we have the mettle to see off unwanted bids so I'm sure any deal would been on our terms. I don't think we will sell but lets face it if anyone's going to turn his head it'll be Barcelona.
I think its quite sweet Barca feel it necessary to send their chief scout to a Spurs game. Nice one, but lets not carried away with any meaning behind it, those redtops just can't bear it inbetween TW's can they!
If Barce want Bale for close to £35m , they will GET Bale for close to £35m.They are absolute GENIUSs in the transfer market,as nearly everybody playin in football would love to play for for them. They use player power to force through the transfer lower than it should be.Fabregas to Barce for £35m,Mascherano to Barce for £18m, for both of these transfers the players, were undervalued. The 2 players involved were both £10m-15m, better than the transfer fee involved in todays market
It took Barca 3 years to meet Arsenal halfway for the Farbregas deal. I'd think that the extra £5mill would have paid for itself by now had they got him earlier but then again I'm no genius.
If Barce want Bale for close to £35m , they will GET Bale for close to £35m.They are absolute GENIUSs in the transfer market ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...really?, and so is Levy. Btw, 34m for David Villa, hardly on the cheap either, bizarrely, you spend similar amounts on Andy Carroll!, thanks for the input though.
Absolute bollocks. You obviously know sweet FA about our Chairman. He's not to be bullied, by Barca, The Chavs, or anybody else. If Barca seriously want Bale, they better start thinking about some numbers way, way, higher than £35mm. Even then, I don't think Levy would agree to a sale.
Bale turned down United to play for us. He's a good lad, with a strong family connection, who goes and stays with his mum in the close-season. He is not a flighty, greedy Fabregas/Nasri type. Bale is staying put. He is our future, and he knows that he can win things with us. He would not want to go and sit on Barca's bench any more than he was prepared to go and sit on United's bench. So, my message to the WUMs out there is this: please do not waste your breath with your pathetic wind-ups. They didn't work during the Modric saga, and they certainly will not work in relation to clearly made-up stories regarding Bale.
