first inside 10 years maybe?

He doesn't understand the point that was made. Since the formation of the Premier League no team has risen from non league to the PL. Teams that were non league before the formation of the PL have played in it. A different thing altogether. Spurs wete non league tge first time thry won the FA Cup but I wouofn't classify them as a non league club that has played in the PL.

Well that’s literally not the point that was made. But if that’s the point that was intended then it makes more sense.

they wont be too expensive to upgrade
they could always play at Watford until their new ground is ready or they are relegated
Milton Keynes wouldn’t actually be a bad idea if it came to it, but I’m guessing they’d rather do whatever it took to win play in Luton.

yes that's a better place
I was just thinking of grounds that had played in the Premier League recently

Which is probably why people want to go so much. It's a different experience. I'm sure I read years ago that Peterborough regularly had the highest average of away fans in the Championship when they were in it. More than likely soley to do with it being a decent size, old school terrace. I'm guessing that won't be the case these days now they've modernised it. In today's largely uniform away fan experience Luton is a gem of a day out.

I always loved that terrace at London Road, a great away day - roof sloping from back to front ensured a noisy atmosphere, not a lot of fans could generate tons of noise.

“If Luton are successful this season, they will become the only team ever to rise from non league level to the Premier League, something which, if achieved this term or next, will be done in a decade,”

It was the point being made. He said they would be the only team to rise from non league to the PL if they are promoted, which they will be if they are promoted and he then adds if they do it this season or next they will have done it in only 10 years.
Can’t see any other team coming through from non league to the PL in the foreseeable future so even if it takes another 6,7,8 years they would still be the only one to do it as I can’t see any other club that has been non league since the formation of the PL doing it.

"they will become the only team ever to rise from non league level to the Premier League"
"I can’t see any other club that has been non league since the formation of the PL doing it."
This is the key point - "since the formation of the Premier League"
The first statement didnt qualify it as such

“they will become the only team ever to rise from non league level to the Premier League"
The first statement qualifies it as such. No other team has done it.

This is the key point - “since the formation of the Premier League”. How could a team progress from non league to the Premier League prior to the formation of the Premier League exactly? The fact is, as the original poster wrote , if Luton get to the Premier League they will be the first non league side to go through the divisions to do it.

They go from non league to a division in the EFL - even the 1st Division and then the Premier League is formed and they get promoted/elected to the Premier League.
The first statement didnt say the club had to be be non league while the Premier League was in existence.
