I think even if you cut off all of VVD's limbs, he could never be as bad a Maguire can be!
VVD isnt the player he was 3 years ago though, age and recurring injuries seems to have taken its toll.
Dont get me wrong, i'd still take him over 90% of defenders out there, but he seems to have lost half a yard of pace and some of his sharpness.

He was never that good if Celtic and Southampton let him go, just my opinion mind.

Celtic let him go because PL players get paid 5 times as much as SPL players and so they decided to cash in.
And Southampton let him go because Liverpool players get paid twice as much as Southampton players and so they decided to cash in.
And Chelsea players get paid twice as much as Liverpool players so they decided to cash in?
Looking at the two clubs respective achievements in the last 5 years, switching from Pool to Chelsea would be a stupid move for any player.
Maybe if we'd have offered Liverpool £150m, but even then, I cannot see VVD being up for the switch.
