I missed it, but sounds like Villa were excellent right from the off, so credit where it's due. Equally it sounds like we were very pooor today and didn't really show up at all?

Both teams had been in good form going into this one, so it could have been a very tight game. Not to be.

We can't win them all and it was a tough away fixture. Emery has done a great job there. But we are still contenders for Europe, so hopefully it's just a bad day.

Very annoying to lose like that, but I feel the best thing is to not dwell on it and move on quickly to focus on the next game. Otherwise you just feel down about it.

On that evidence villa could make top 4 looking at their fixtures. They were absolutely brilliant and made newcastle look bad.

He is. He controls the midfield. Something which we were doing upto this game. The game plan they deploy is good. Simple and effective.

I never did. He has improved lately (and I've given him some credit), but realistically, if we are to be in Europe next season then he shouldn't even be on the subs bench really.

He's good enough for what we do now yeah.

Like a game against Forest, or whatever.

But i reckon he's not quite good enough to play against Real Madrid

Reckon Munson will screenshot this or smt?

I know there's a thread or two telling us that he's class though.
 
I think it's a bit sharp to say howes not good enough... he's got the club this far wgsys the difference at the higher level?? Better players and more money usually.

Class? Really?

I know he put in a couple of decent performances, but 'class' seems a bit OTT for Murphy. Seems a great guy to have in squad for his positive energy and cameraderie, but I don't think he is a class player.
 
It's too soon to say anything about Howe.

Has he done as expected? No, he's done more than was expected. So, he has rightfully earned plaudits and lots of time for himself if we go through a bad patch. I know eventually, we will have a bad season - in fact, if we limp into the Europa League and don't sign players, atleast 4 would be needed, I think next season will be a bad season.

Also, as Newcastle progress, we will become a team chasing trophies and if Howe is the man to deliver silverware is the true question.

I sometimes think he's too soft and doesn't have a killer instinct when it comes to big moments.
