it's not a small squad, it's a large squad carrying several crocks and passengers no team can carry matip- playing like a tackle will snap a leg off. keita - permainjured or not arsed ox as above gomez - crisis every time he plays tsimikas - strung out. fabinho - legs in treacle Henderson- 60min player who thinks he's a 90mins player thiago- injured or not able to run nunez - permainjured it seems diaz - long term knee injury jota - long term injured and playing like he can't get about. firmino- constant niggles konate - constsnt niggle I mean as much as trent and salah get savaged they are run out covering these others. our reliable players are alisson, robertson, trent and salah. you knew know who's going to be dropped in next to them
I do agree that I think putting two energetic mids next to Fab will help him massively but at the same time, we need to find his long term successor. Watching Thiago vs Arsenal just shows how much we missed his clever passes from midfield. He's one of the few midfielders we have that can help with our build up play - signing someone like MacAllister would be ideal.
he came on when arsenal had already bottled it. it's fine to talk build up play but you have to win the right to play first and thiago can't do that any more either. macallister is alright but we can do better and will.
When our only options are Hendo, Jones, Elliot, Naby, Fab - I think Thiago is more than capable of coming back in at LCM. He is our best option and is a world class option. MacAllister and Caicedo are two excellent options - they will win you over ... I assure you.
Bellingham, MacAllister and Alex Scott (Bristol City) would be great options as the 8's. Just need to find the long term Fab replacement - someone like Ugarte would be perfect.
jimmy you can't seriously pluck the bristol city lad as a real option just cos he is inked this morning! the lad is 19. We might as well stick with morton and bajcetic at that level, no doubt reports are correct that the recognisable senior scouting faces were there and we might be looking but that's a long way from first 11. the mount, Bellingham, nunes, barella stuff is more likely our starting wish list. the no 6 is a serious serious issue and we have not really get many options yet.
macallister is not world class caicedo is not world class. he'd an average enough passer plus going to arsenal. we will do better. its irrelevant what we have today in this context.
Alex Scott looks like one for the future, very exciting prospect. Caicedo and MacAllister are not world class ... yet. But what they currently are two midfielders who profile extremely well - young, full of energy and solid on the ball. MacAllister in particular is excellent in build up whilst Caicedo is a destroyer. Barella is not likely to come, Nunes is decent but nothing special. Jude is pretty much nailed on IMO.
bellingham is a pipe dream caicedo is all well and good in a team who park two blockers but the expansion of his game at our club would be massive step up from that. remember mr drinkwater at Leicester (ignore Mr kante here it doesn't suit my narrative)
All joking aside. We need to hear about the new investment and new DoF and should do shortly. there's a lot of noise about deals and such but none of that is happening yet. We all know klopp is a great admirer of a great many players including Bellingham. but who we go for will not be dictated by the press or the obvious IMO. The most glaringly obvious target is mason mount due to age, experience and contract status yet the press never shut up about it. The nunes stuff won't go away either, but is slightly lazy reporting given ward is on the way out and with him the real interest in Portuguese based players. nunes did not wait for LFC and chose wovles so with wolves 100% going to survuve now he really has made his bed and would represent option c or option D as attacking midfielder IMO Bellingham is the fans shout all the time and the press will always go with clock bait name. the reality is still 120million plus 350k a week wages minimum. this on its own says its not happening. we are not really looking for 40 attacking CMS who run head of the ball though, we are looking for 1 or 2 players who will stay with the ball and actively close the gaps and cover othe rplayers. unselfish players.
Let's just hope Klopp isn't part of the player identification process, and that is with Will Spearman. It's time we go back to the old process and be efficient with our recruitment. It's not coincidence it's gone to sh*t since Klopp and Ljinders got more influence ...
Involved, yes. But fully influencing decisions, no. Gakpo, Nunez, Thiago, Hendo extension would not have happened if Edwards was here. You can pin point the exact moment when things changed ... when Klopp got a new deal. And you know it, my friend ...
Not really the point mate, we've missed the minutes they should have been providing. Klopp certainly prefers a strong eleven although that could be the financial situation we're in rather than a preference.
when you win the trophies this team did, you need to invest properly to make sure that it keeps winning. We didn’t do that. Not properly anyway. So for me, it’s purely a financial thing.
I agree. The last hour at Arsenal and a handful of other performances have shown that the current lot do have it in them if they just get their fingers out. There will need to be reinforcements obviously, but I don't think the massive re-build that some believe is needed is either likely or necessary. Fill in the obvious gaps and let the young up-and-coming ones grow into the team. I've never yet seen wholescale changes bring an improvement.
