It’s not that I’m expecting us to bulldoze through teams each week, I‘m just struggling to see the progress other than the defensive improvements which let’s be honest any half decent manager would be able to address.I understand your point of view, but why are your expectations so high?
We have most of our attacking players out injured (Rosie just confirmed NONE will be fit for Saturday), we have half a league one team and players just coming back from or carrying injuries.
Teams like Millwall, Luton etc were teams that in the past we would have been confident we would beat. But now, given the last few seasons, that’s not the case anymore. They have, for the time being, jumped ahead of us in terms of progress and are no longer considered weaker sides in the division, neither can we claim to be one of the better ones. I couldn’t think of a team that would see us in the fixture list at the start of the season and not think “3 points”.
We are a project in motion. We cleared some deadwood last season, we will do the same this season. We have the spine of a good team, we’re only four or five signings away from being a top six side for me.
Savile today was class for them. If he wasn’t 29 and had the same last name as the most evil sex predator this country has ever known, I’d want him alongside Seri.
I was hoping by now we would be able to see some progress in our attack (not expecting 5 goals every game) but just want to see something either in the underlying stats or just with the naked eye and “see” what what Rosie is trying to do but I just can’t see it. (Obviously other than keeping the ball more)
Apologies if I haven’t explained it very well!
