None of my employment contracts have been fixed term and they have all had notice periods in them.

Wouldn't the pay off to PB be due to the fact that we sacked him so we pay him off to prevent him bringing a wrongful/unfair dismissal claim?

There are much worse places then Hull and Leicester.

Hull - In my opinion is a beautiful city barring estates such as Bransholme, Orchard Park but EVERY city has them.
Leicester - Very nice city centre but once again has some **** estates and streets.

East Yorkshire - Probably the nicest county in the UK
    Leicestershire - Another nice county.

I do Travel & Tourism and i can end this argument right here, right now.

According to the 2011 stats nor Hull or Leicester are in the top 20 worst places to live.
Nottingham is currently the UK's worst place to live.

Went there in the summer, thought it was very scenic- didn't go to any of the sites but drove past them, like the docks where Titanic was built. Thought the hills on the outskirts were very picturesque. Saw the Sandy Row mural and all the Union Jacks on the Shankhill Road. Can't imagine any of that here. Pubs were class- got a proper pint of Guinness and a pint of Harp lager. The pubs & clubs were busy, the food was good and the people were friendly and welcoming. Top weekend.

My votes for biggest ****holes- Sunderland or South Shields.

Unfortunately, that stat was from the 1970s. Since then, approx. 150,000 single men then moved into the area. Now the ratio is 5/2 in favour of men.

And I'm not surprised that Nottingham is the worst place to live. It's full of human dross.

    I prefer quality over quantity.

As for the disproportionate amount of men, it is because the they have either been shot or are in jail.

Many of those best places look like touristy areas though. I don't think I'd enjoy living in the isolation of many of those places.

When there's quantity you usually find more quality.

That's rolling contracts though isn't it?

Yeah, if you didn't have a notice period you would essenially be contracted for life with no release.
But, the contracts on question ARE fixed term contracts so they wouldn't be tied in for life.
