Who? The mis-management team. Absolutely. The football side of this club has been a slow and gradual erosion of (in my eyes) a fantastic football club. A complete disgrace.
I know there are divergent views on this but what they don't need is to be booed and chanted 'you're not fit to wear the shirt'! How is that supposed to help? We had the QPR legend Gerry Francis exhorting us to cheer the lads on at half time and what a difference it makes and what did many do? I know others have strong views about this but I've never booed my own teamor sung unhelpful chants at them!
It's a funny one isn't it, because unlike the infamous team with Bosingwa and friends, I don't get the impression from the limited games I get to watch that the players aren't making any effort. Happy to stand corrected by those who go every week. I can't really pinpoint what's gone wrong, but it feels deeper than 'the players aren't trying'. I understand the reaction as I'd be happy to see all the players disappear over the summer, with a few exceptions like Sam Field. But I'm not sure that's the answer. Not is sacking Les. I can't really see it getting any better until we have new owners to be honest.
I'm sure there are many causes to our current predicament. One does wonder if the lack of comms from the owners is because they're negotiating a sale.
It would be an odd sale. I guess more of the current owners finding someone to take on the liability, a win for them is stopping the weekly haemorrhaging of their cash into the club. They can’t expect to be paid to leave, surely? I have no idea who might want to take on this poisoned chalice. For what it’s worth I don’t think the players don’t care (well perhaps a couple of the loanees are iffy). I think they are basically ****, have zero confidence, and lack leadership on and off the pitch. When things go wrong they have no idea how to respond. Ainsworth is clearly not up to this. At the very least they should be playing like he did, with a kind of feverish passion, but we don’t see much of that, or not since the Watford game. Just headless chickens. The dreadful ‘teambuilding’ video showed a man clutching at straws.
Have to say, I didn’t see a lot wrong with trying something different. Some got into it, others looked on with no notion of what it was about. GA must have felt that they need some team building - and by God they do!
Nothing necessarily 'wrong' with the video, but not sure it achieved its aim. Surely it was meant to portray a band of brothers, inspired and up for the fight. What I saw was a slightly awkward reaction from a group of players who felt they were in a scene from 'The Office'.
It was the sight and sound of Ainsworth begging the players to ‘buy in’ at the beginning of it that spelled danger to me. The second worrying thing was the decision making process involved in putting the video of the event out at all. The actual haka stuff, though cringe making, was fairly standard old fashioned corporate team building.
To be fair there have been a few very poor decisions on putting out videos … the recruitment guy was begging for a terrible response; equally agree that they should have kept the team-building in-house too. Our marketing and communications team come across as desperate to put good news out and failed miserably. The whole club is struggling to do anything right at the moment. The only real credit due is to the fans for turning up.
As much as I revere Les Ferdinand as a player for us, as a director of football he’s been about as much use as a handbrake on a canoe and he has too go !!!
I wonder if SLF bothered looking into GA's style of play. Did he actually do any research at all or hear GA's ideas before deciding to bring him in?
Fingers crossed, this bunch of owners are useless, and Ferdinand getting 400k a year,if correct is a total disgrace for such an inept failure
