We are literally just a maddison away from being an insane team.
Imagine if Maddison was the one getting on the end of some of the chances that Longstaff, Willock and Joelinton get?

Our first team can compete with a Manchester United or Tottenham if we're playing well. Realistically, to compete regularly at the top end we're still a distance away, teams like Man City can pretty much beat us if they have to and I wouldn't yet be confident going into any crunch games against the so called big 6. Maddison, a winger, a beast of a CDM, another striker and cover for pretty mcuh our entire back line + keeper is still required. For this summer I'd be very happy with a midfielder, a forward and a defender - quality over quantity.

If Ivan Toney wasn't suspended, I'd say him, but probably not going to happen now, and besides it'll likely be some young prospect.
CDM - Not sure.

A winger - I personally don't think we need to splash 90m on Diaby. I kind of like the look of Harvey Barnes.
In reality, apart from Maddison, we'll probably sign people we haven't even heard of.
Think we should have a look at Lavia from Southampton if we can get him on the cheap, if they get relegated. Young, very confident on the ball and would add numbers to our midfield pool. Been very impressed with him in the games of theirs I have watched.

Whenever I see Toney or Mitrovic this season I always think how good they'd be for us if we had them now. Of the two I agree with Toney but can only see either moving if they get relegated - Fulham and Mitrovic in particular are perfect for each other.
The dream would be Kante but that's not happening, neither is Declan Rice (even if West Ham went down, he's only leaving London for Manchester or Liverpool). I'm fully expecting Ilaix Moriba to come in. Who knows, suspect it'll be unguessable.
Mitro would cost too much and he wouldn't fit into our style I don't think. Plus disciplinary issues.
Erm, you said we'd come up short yesterday. By the end of the season, who knows what could happen, but there is a confidence and optimism in the squad again after our "wobble".
