Athletico Madrid, RB Leipzig and West Ham are apparently keeping an eye on Gabby Sara. I hope we can keep him, it feels so long ago since we had a properly functioning midfield as we do now
At least one top Spanish club had been monitoring his progress at Sao Paulo prior to his signing for us; I think it was Barca, wouldn't swear to it. Generally speaking, all the Spanish clubs keep a close eye on emerging talent in South America.

Puts the need to get promoted a bit more in focus, as it could mean that failure to do so could see us lose him.
On the flip side a young Brazilian with a long contract, signed for 11millipn could command a high price

He wasn't considered the hottest prospect at San Paulo, and there was some surprise at our coming in for him in particular (as opposed to Marquinos for example). The simple answer is that Dean Smith had made strengthening the midfield the top priority. It looked as if Kone (now at Watford) was the main target, but when he played hardball over personal terms Webber abruptly called a halt and we agreed the deal for Sara a few days later. I'd be surprised if anyone came in this summer with a bid worth more than Gabby is worth as a player to us.

Command, or demand? :emoticon-0112-wonde

Norwich City will command between £25million and £30million for Gabriel Sara, amid emerging interesting from West Ham, claims Football Insider.

Sara, 21, only joined Norwich City from Sao Paulo last summer. But already, the young Brazilian midfielder is attracting interest from the top leagues, with recent reports having linked the likes of West Ham, Atletico Madrid, and Red Bull Leipzig.

There's nothing "inside" about Football Insider. It's just clickbait. Why do people keep posting this rubbish?

Sara on rumours:

“I don’t know anything about these reports, actually. I am only thinking about Norwich and getting this promotion. That is my focus. I am feeling so confident and like I’m adapting to this league. Every game I am feeling better. I’m learning to fight to the ball, how to deal with the press and tactically. The quality on the pitch is making me better and my team are making me a better player.”

Carlton Morris was just coming through at the wrong time it always felt to me. He would be about to break through into the team, we got Pukki and he got injured for a season

With hindsight, I so wish we still had Carlton Morris instead of Adam Idah.
Though CM did virtually nothing until he moved to Barnsley - now look at him go!

Re. Morris, the fact is that, while consistently "there or thereabouts" he was never consistently "there" -- look at his career record while on our books (which, inter alia, reflects assessments of him over five seasons under Alex Neil and Daniel Farke). He signed for Barnsley with his Norwich contract running down and with little prospect of anything other than a bit part role that season and beyond; he needed a club with a different style of play, and his success since leaving is the proof.

We make judgements about players in absolute terms, as if they have a fixed quality wherever they go. In reality, players (and managers) vary wildly according to how they fit in with a club. Banal thing to say, but football is a team sport and if the style of your team doesn't suit you, you'll be poor. If it does suit you, you'll lperform well.

Agree, Lambert started with a team of average players, but built a successful squad around his style of play

Well, it seems it serves a useful purpose ............ otherwise wouldn't any rational being turn it off?
