The people supporting him at the BBC are ex/current players, appears a principle thing more than left / right / other politics

The BBC have suspended him which would challenge it being lefty or righty...

The arts / entertainment tend to be more left / other orientated as a group, though not exclusively

The arts are traditionally more left wing and as media generally falls under the remit of the arts, it’s easy to make that assumption of bias.

However, as an institution, it demonstrably is not biased towards the left of politics at all. If I were to label it with a bias, I’d say it has a political bias over expertise, something which I’ve always railed against.

I think people perceive the BBC as having a left wing bias because of its overt and sometimes clumsy attempts at inclusion. Some people perceive giving disproportionate air time to women’s football as left wing, or LBGT issues being played out, as the BBC being left wing. Of course, certain sections of the media drip feed this into people's minds too.

Plus, ‘right-wing’ narratives (whatever they might be) don’t exactly play out well in the arts generally.

Politically, I can’t think of one left wing political correspondent on BBC TV. I can think of several Conservatives.

However, for me, despite its funding, the BBC reflects neo-liberalism.

Agree, there is a general disdain for anything populist or patriotic.

A good example of the media's delusion that everyone loves Gary Lineker, fans of Leicester, Arsenal and Newcastle may do this but I'd be surprised if pro Lineker chants extended outside the Premier League bubble and across the rest of football?

From what I’ve seen on social media and elsewhere, there’s overwhelming support for Lineker, it’s not just in football, it’s across the board and beyond sport.

I think Citizen has a dartboard with Alex Scott's photo on it.
She is easier on the eye than most sports presenters ;)

Haven't watched it for years, same with MOTD. When City were on MOTD we were usually last, and they even sometimes managed not to show some goal scoring chances we had. :emoticon-0100-smile

Same here. Years ago I would watch any football. Now disillusionment with football has set in and I only tend to watch City and England matches..Though I did record it to watch Man Utd’s thrashing. Did what I used to do, fast forwarded to the highlights, watched them and then switched off.

Not at all, I don't understand why you paint me as some sort of heavily biased person, I don't think at any point during this conversation I've called for somebody to be undeservedly cancelled or prevented from giving their views.

Everybody tends to agree with people whose views match their own, that's not really a "gotcha", what I take umbridge with is people who are in a position of responsibility and use that platform to spout things that aren't true or deliberately attack others to with an intent to cause harm. Which I wouldn't call bias, but I guess a handful of people might.
