Is xG the most pointless piece of information ever thought of? You can’t score 0.94 of a goal, you either score one or nothing. I expected none so got the number I expected. My last word on the matter. I will completely ignore anymore XG bollocks.
I asked on Twitter for someone to explain it. Don’t think anyone knew

Now you’ve done it…

Milky will be along soon dazzling you with why XG is important ;)

Only one goal conceded in 2 PL games under Javi Gracia.

Small sample size of matches but that's a noticable improvement after shipping goals for fun under the previous incumbent. There's now a full week of training ahead at TA when hopefully the new manager can finally get down to some hard graft after 3 games in quick succession since his appointment.

True, we were poor at the back under Skubala.

Small sample size as you say but just for context, under javi, one game was against the bottom club and the other against a side who’d scored once in their previous 5 games.

In between we shipped two against Fulham reserves.

Fulham reserves who played mitrovitch. A better striker than ours and his link up play was excellent.

Indeed… doesn’t distract from the point though does it. Jambo was accentuating the positives that we only lost by one goal…. But it was to a side that haven’t been able to score against anyone else - and we probably should have been 2 down inside 30 minutes.

what’s your favourite stat? Mine is number of corners.

There were plenty of positives from yesterday's game which means we have lots to work with before we face Brighton on Saturday. Of course Javi and his coaches will also address where we can further improve defensively, but I'm sure the focus will be more about doing what we did well better and then the results will follow.

For what it's worth a point next week will be a decent result.

You’re right. Our best chance of staying out of the bottom three will be a run of scoreless draws and maybe one or two one nil wins <ok>

yep Brighton are a better side than Chelsea.

Whatever Javi says, the defensive improvement actually happened a while ago... (Apart from the Manc games), We’ve given up very few chances in 2023. The problem is sides have been taking an unnatural proportion of them.

The more conservative you are the harder it is to create… which we’ve also witnessed.
