Worth watching the juvenile hurdle at Newbury to see whether Under Control can book her Cheltenham ticket

I backed Ernest Gray when he ran in the Grade 2 Bumper at Aintree on Grand National day but unfortunately he proved most disappointing that day trailing home in 12th place. To date his hurdling career has been similarly poor with a formline of -454 achieved (and 2 of those runs saw 20 lengths + defeats). However, the positive is that this leads to Ernest Gray, today, debuting in a handicap (4.50 Doncaster) off a mark of just 109. This could, potentially, be very lenient and I would be hopeful of him going close off such a perch this afternoon.

I would expect the step up in trip to prove beneficial and on breeding Ernest Gray should be a lot better than this rating as the 6YO is by Walk in the Park and the dam was a Grade 3 winner.

Very nice, but perhaps they will save her for Aintree?

Nice work Barney, horse certainly did relish that trip and whilst looked a little outpaced half way or so picked up the bit and tanked up the home straight to win snug enough.

Om another note...did anyone catch the 5.30 at Dundalk ? Commentary was seemingly lost by Dessie Scahill but rather than being muted we could hear the ramblings of Kevin O'Ryan behind the scenes using some colourful language to encourage Seamie Heffernan's mount into the placings to get his money back each way. I didn't stay with coverage but I'm sure an apology was issues <laugh>
