a related topic, Blair and Hague have come up with what I think it a excellent suggestion to give everyone in the UK a digital passport on their smart phone. I think we're going to hear more about this.

Is thought up by their friends in the telecommunications industry. Not everyone can afford or even own a smart phone.

That will stop those nasty poor people from having any rights to vote or probably claim benefits....unless the government gives everyone a smart phone...then it's a brilliant idea

For those who genuinely can't afford a smart phone, (you can pick up a new Nokia for £100) then the govt should supply one as part of the benefits package. Prices are tumbling and the govt could get a good block deal.

Just seen that the Tories seem set on their aim to raise the pension age to 68 by 2035.
Of course that will entirely **** me over as means I would then have to work another year before getting a state pension.
Honestly can’t see myself being able to physically do my job at that age…..or maybe they are hoping I’ll die before I get to take it

The change to 67 means I will have to wait a further year too.

In my view, you need to rethink your understanding of the definition, Beth. Woke may have started out with its heart in the right place, but then, arguably, so did Puritanism in the C17th.

However pious and righteous supporters feel, woke has become narrow-minded, illiberal, intolerant of other views, cancel cultural. People lose their jobs for wrong-think. Those that do not bow to the creed are "racist", whether race is involved or not. The label "woke" is to put oneself on display eg Megs and Man-baby. Woke makes problems rather than solves them, eg BLM continually telling it supporters they are victims and the enemy are those benefitting from "white privilege". It splits communities rather than fostering good will and tolerance. It's become a really damaging dogma.
Plenty of ‘goodwill and tolerance’ on show here.

I heard these two crooked old farts on the radio this morning. Why do we give time to these people, lecturing us on how everyone else should behave, what they should do in the future. Why anyone should listen to these twentieth century men on technology and the future is completely beyond me. And I speak as a proud, and self aware, twentieth century man. You’ve had your chance, do the decent thing and **** off quietly. Noses too deep into the trough to stop stuffing your faces yet?

Put a bit of a crimp on my day. For five minutes. Then I started thinking about the brilliance of British Home Secretaries in creating our very own Guantanamo Bay in Syria, and not even paying for it! We’re ****ing great we are.

Blair is still a hero of the Neo-Liberal left, purely because he got his right wing form of the Labour Party into power. His true colours are now coming out

His colours came out a long time ago with Iraq and a multi-million pound property empire. He's looking to rehabilitate himself. Doesn't make him wrong, moving the UK into the digital age. It's gonna happen with or without him

I can afford a smart phone but I absolutely refuse to buy one I just don't want to be enslaved by such unnecessary stuff.
