According to the BBC Sport site, from an article in The Metro - who, in turn, are quoting an Italian T.V. sports programme, we have agreed a deal with Juventus to sign Amauri. for a "nominal fee" He's 31 years old, and currently out of favour at Juve. He was signed by Juve in 2008 for E22.8MM.
Time will tell if there's any truth in it. However, he looks a stop-gap signing. Probably as a back-up striking option.

Didn't they say the same thing about the young Brazilian kid, and what happened to that?

Aslong as we get one Brazilian striker I'll be happy. Amauri looked quality for Palermo when I saw him, I assume there will be a transfer fee involved but hopefully he shouldn't cost too much.

I think the Brazilian youngster maybe out of price range already.

I wonder how long before the first gag about minge mohawks!...oops! :D

I had a look at the Italian paper in question. This is the very bad translation of the article.
After many "no", Carvalho Amauri would be ready to leave Juventus in January for the Spurs, who is looking for an alternative to Adebayor and has set his sights on England striker Italo-brasiliano.Giungono confirmation that the parties are close The native black and white will go away virtually for free, with Juventus ready to give up even a slight economic counterpart to tag a player out of contract The Spurs should ensure an overlap up to Amauri but not equal to that received at Juventus, almost 4 million.

I see that The Fail is saying that we are interested in Fulham's Dembele. I've always liked the look of him, and thought he was a class act. Unfortunately, Jol rates him very highly, too. So, if there's any truth in it, we could have a fight on our hands, to land him.

We need to be unsettling Demba Ba, at the Toon, by making a serious offer for him in January.

We missed our chance. Should of got him in the summer. I thought he looked good at west ham

We were linked with Dembele before.
Not sure if he's up to playing the lone striker role, but he's a very decent player.

The problem with Ba is that he's liable to break down at any time, if Stoke's medical for him is anything to go by.
Newcastle will definitely miss him when he flies out to the African Nations, though.

On Dembele, he's caught my eye, even when surrounded he comes out with the ball, I like these sort of players. The big 'but' for me is, who do we drop?, don't anyone say VDV please, his goalscoring is nowhere near Rafa's. I don't think he'd be content with EL/bench status tbh.

Ba, the next Drogba?, previously unknown for some time in French football, or just a flash in the pan?, can't make my mind up.

If anyone does say VDV they will have GHoddle10 to deal with <grr> who I suspect is actually Rafa such is his (understandable) adoration <laugh>

Del Piero's only slightly older than Redknapp.
I'm sure he'll fit right in at whichever newly promoted club he chooses to fleece.
