Whoever we get, he/she will be the most hated person on the planet by the Saints Twitter mafia, keyboard cowboys, after he loses the first game in charge. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind would want the job, no matter how much he/she is offered. it is a poisoned chalice with no redeeming features. Good luck to whoever takes it on, they are going to need a lot more than that to get us out of this mess. Hopefully someone we have never heard of, with no skeletons in the closet.

Most well rounded and actually I think possible candidate to me feels like Nuno Espírito Santo.

Reasonable PL performances at Wolves and has won the Championship.

Not the most exciting, but realistic?

Has the experience we need.

We would still have to find a way to draw him away from Saudi bucks though.

Gallardo is above our station for now I think.

Agreed as previously stated. I think the trouble with Gallardo is that he's another big risk where it might not work, and I'm not sure even Ankersen's xEgo stats will be able to countenance that. He was absolutely the original risk we should have taken though (at the risk of repeating myself!)

Rubbish. Jones wasn't hated after his first game. Or his second. He was hated after he started acting a twat and kept losing whilst taking the team backwards.

I agree with Adam.

Given our recent recruitment policy I’m expecting Brain Barry-Murphy or Ben Wilkinson to be next manager.

I posted this a while ago:

People still talk about 40 points but the last five seasons, a clear point above relegation has been 34,35,35,29 and 36 points.

Let's try to be realistic rather than unnecessarily pessimistic.

Vin

I do think it is likely the points tally to survive will be lower this season.

But realistically we are far more likely to go down than survive now, so I don’t think it’s wrong to have an eye on the Championship and what we might need there.

I am assuming we are down for my own sanity now because hope = pain!

I think we may end up going for someone outside of this list, but for now just going through the favourites.

Gerrard could be Jones again and fans will be on his back immediately because of who he is, not what we need right now.

Marsch has just been sacked from Leeds for not being good enough, he could do a job for us in the Championship though I reckon. I doubt he will keep us up.

Gallardo unlikely.

Allardyce is retired and has lost his escape artist status now anyway.

Poch… Not a chance

Selles has been involved with coaching this whole season, I don’t think promotion should be on the cards. If we have truly given up on surviving I wouldn’t be opposed to him being an interim so that we have time to really plan our escape from the Championship next season, but I think that’s probably a daft approach on the whole.

Nuno, has solid PL experience and has won the Championship, might not be interested but probably the most likely of acceptable candidates. This is my pick of this list.

Benitez, I don’t think he would be interested.

Parker, good championship record but everyone thinks he is a fraud for some reason?

Postecoglu won’t leave Celtic for us.

I missed Bielsa, I wouldn’t be against it because no matter what happens we would be guaranteed entertainment, but he took the piss out of Everton when they approached him and I’m not sure why he wouldn’t do the same with us. Also I’m not really sure if he meets our needs at the mo.

I don't know why anyone thinks that managing us to relegation would be a blot on a manager's CV and hence should be avoided by anyone serious.

It's a bit like being a keeper facing a penalty. Ball goes in and it's expected. Save it and you're a hero. With us, relegation is now expected and if we stay up, the new guy is a hero.

Anyone who joins us has literally nothing to lose as long as the team shows improvement.
