Now you really are talking rubbish ... Raphinha & Rodrigo never downed tools ... how disrespectful to two players who gave their all for Bielsa, and Rodrigo just had bad luck with injuries and two bouts of Covid

If we had a full strength team for the season, Leeds would have finished 9th again easily

Why do you refuse to acknowledge that injuries did the damage, nothing else ... Bielsa got sacked because 49ers felt it would be good to get Jesse in so he could be seen as the saviour after Bielsa ... if Bielsa had stayed and pushed us up to 12th with his best players coming back after the Spurs game, imagine how difficult it would have been to bring Marsch in at the end of the season ... the fanbase would have melted down

Instead they let Bielsa battle away through the tough run of games with a decimated squad, then refused to give him the chance to kick on with the easy run of games and KP, Cooper etc coming back ... it was callous and very unfair what they did to Bielsa, he didn't deserve it

I say again, look at this for the 7-0 loss at Citeh:

    RB-Shackleton CB-Ayling CB-Llorente LB-Firpo

    CDM-Forshaw CDM-Dallas

    AM-Roberts

    CF-James

    A bench of kids

Tell me again how Bielsa was found out, how players downed tools or how Bielsa lost the plot ... that team would struggle against Sunderland never mind a flying Citeh trying to close out a title race ... they had Rodri, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Mahrez, Grealish, Foden, Bernardo Silva, Zinchenko etc running the show that day, it's a miracle Leeds kept the score down to just 7

Cooper, Koch, Struijk, Kalvin, Bamford, Rodrigo, Klich (on bench as only 50% fit)

That's SEVEN of the Leeds first team unavailable against a full-strength Citeh ... give over

Drameh came on for Shack, Joffy for DJ and Klich for Firpo who got a knock ... that's desperate man

Here's how Marsch did it in the return at Elland Road (0-4)

    Meslier

    Dallas Ayling Koch Struijk Firpo

    Raphinha Klich Phillips Harrison

    Rodrigo

To keep trying to make out Bielsa was a failure, his tactics were poor and he'd lost the dressing room is just a nonsense ... the man deserves our everlasting gratitude and respect, because without him we'd still be an average Championship team ... he got done by 49ers as a PR exercise and to lessen any fan backlash for letting Bielsa go ... there is no doubt that had Bielsa stayed, faced with the easy run Marsch had and having key players returning, Leeds would not have been praying for a miracle on the final day because they would have been 10 points clear

There is also no justification for Marsch staying, none at all

Now Emu, you claim to understand this and that you supported Bielsa, but I don't see it ... your disrespectful comment about players quitting says a lot

You're just arguing with yourself now because alot of that jibberish pays no resemblance to what I said.

    Have a word with yourself.

Totally agree. I posted yesterday that how they treated Bielsa during that run of games, leaving him in charge, knowing heavy defeats were inevitable given the severely depleted squad, and knowing the new guy would be taking over at the start of an easier run of games, was a disgraceful way to treat an honourable man given everything he had achieved for the club.

And no way did Rodrigo and Raphinha ‘down tools’. Lost form for a few games maybe, but that happens to every player.

No wonder he’ll no longer talk to the board. It would be like your ex constantly ringing you after kicking you out to have an affair with the dustman and realising she’d made a big mistake (again, I must stress I’m not speaking from personal experience <whistle>)

    Couple of things.

    1) Had Phillips & Cooper not both suffered long term injuries in the same match against Brentford (h) last season we'd have finished comfortably mid table or higher. Injuries happen I get it, but that was a kind of ' sliding doors ' moment for the club, maybe the curse removed by old Gypsy Rose Lee all those years ago still lingers around parts of ER.

    2) I'm very interested in the statement yesterday that Marsche would have been sacked sooner if it hadn't been for the persuasive backing of Victor Orta. When was it exactly when they wanted to pull the plug ? I'm guessing in the run up to the Liverpool game so we would have had the WC break to reset and then go again under a new manager. We must now regret not taking that action as most of the other teams have already changed managers and we're now left playing catch up.

    https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/03/31/leeds-star-rodrigo-admits-doubt-over-bielsa-tactics/

Leeds attacker Rodrigo has told BBC Radio Yorkshire that Marcelo Bielsa’s tactics of playing man-to-man proved only hampered the Whites – admitting that Jesse Marsch’s style allows Leeds to play with more energy.

Bielsa was sacked towards the end of February after a dismal run of results – and a huge amount of goals conceded. Since then, American gaffer Marsch has come in and changed the system, playing more zonally in defence.

He has more structure, but still with the freedom of a Bielsa side in attack. Leeds have suffered losses to Leicester City and Aston Villa, but secured crucial late wins over Norwich City and then Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Speaking out about the difference in style, Spain international Rodrigo – who was signed during Bielsa’s era – believes Bielsa’s man-to-man drained the energy of the Leeds players and affected them going forward.

"We had this one-v-one marking that maybe was penalising us too much, especially in defensive moments because our position is always a function of the opponent,” Rodrigo told the BBC, on Bielsa’s tactics.

“I think now that the methodology, the way of play change, and because everyone is occupying the zone, and share better the spaces in the field. So maybe [it] gives us more energy to defend and to attack as well"

    --------

This isn't a dig at Bielsa. This is evidence that Rodrigo was unhappy toward the end. He was regularly benched or substituted and was regularly sulking as he went off and at times petulant in the direction of Bielsa. He'd took his fellow Brazilian Raphinha under his wing and his form suffered too around this time.

This article was 1 month after Bielsa left.

I’ve always thought your defence of him has always been put very eloquently backed up by good points and facts of situations that have happened during matches. For myself I’d lost faith in his ability to turn things around. Looking back I now think it was Bamford that done for him in the post match interview. When you openly question the manager’s tactics it suggests problems in the dressing room.

Thanks bud. I enjoyed the toing and froing. Alot of it was just trying to balance the argument out.

Once you lose the fans and one or two players you're pretty much done for. You were right about his win %. It's just not acceptable and when you put all those things together there really was only one outcome.

The next guy needs all of us behind him. (Well to begin with anyway!) :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Jammy this morning I heard straight after the Leicester match when the fans turned, that’s when discussions started about replacing Marsch…..
