We really needed a win , but like hoops can't buy one at the moment. Small shoots of promise with some of the attacking play. But yet again small mistakes, and stupid pens our achilles heel. Some of the tackling or serious lack of it was the worst I can remember from any team for a long long time. Yet again we resort to booting the ball away at far too many occasions and for no profit at all, I just can't help to feel that Farrell somehow holds up back, but have thought that for a long time. Alot of work for Borthwick to attend to but if he can't alter the silly mistakes and our discipline , it won't matter a jot. We'll done to the Sweaties, they deserved it on the day and have some excellent wingers and a clear style of play.
But how many actual games until it starts ? He should've had the nuts to start building the team around Smith and not Farrell ! Can't see us changing enough in time for this World Cup with Farrell so pivotal.
I thought the last pass from their number 8 to the tryscorer was defo forward, but it didn't even get looked at !
But in such a pivotal moment in such a big game surely it should've been checked ? Maybe it was, but it didn't appear that way. I'm surprised more England players didn't ask the ref to have a look at it.
It seems to me to be a different culture whereby forward passes are ignored more in Union than they would be in League.
Italy could provide a Massive shock, only 1 point behind France (who have a man in the bin) with 20 to go.
What's happened in this years Six Nations first round of games that has never happened before in the 23 years it's been running?
The Irish system took years to develop. We have limited resources and a very very small Pool of players to pick from. Rugby is only the 4th sport here. Schools feed into the provinces who feed into the national team. Central contracts for a limited number of players who are well protected. There is no reason the Welsh system shouldn’t be as developed.
