Hate dark evenings. About 3-4 years ago I joined the Lighter Later campaign to have the clocks left at BST all year round. It's the sudden loss of one hour's daylight, when the clocks go back, that really annoys me. As if it isn't bad enough without that. All the evidence suggests it's better for people not to have the clocks go back in the winter.
However, there is a problem This coalition government decided it would be a good thing, not only to not put the clocks back in the winter, but to then put them forward in the summer, and then mark time alongside CET [Central European Time] The thing is, that's a step too far for many people [not me, I'd love it] and there is a danger the whole thing will get kicked into touch, because it could be perceived that the people don't want the present BST/GMT time changed at all. So if you don't like darker evenings, don't just sit and moan, join Lighter Later, online and get your local MP to back the change, or at least some change. Tbh, if we can tell the Socts to sod off there is a real possibility we might get the change anyway. But it still needs the will of the public.

how much can you prefer women in the winter? the best dressed and looking always emerge in the summer. you only have to be on a university campus to see that.
It gets light at about 9am here in deepest winter which is bad enough, not sure I could handle darkness in the morning until 10am. Having said that, I don't see a problem with the rest of the UK changing and Scotland staying as it is
Trouble is, you Guys have a veto, on the whole thing. If only the UK coalition government would allow you to stay in which ever time zone you prefered. But then the London Parliament is quietly anxious against having any more differences in the system that aids and abets Scottish Independance.

Well seeing as you live in a Geographical latitude [Portugal] where the difference between light and dark stays much more constant, than the UK, I can understand your reaction. But, if it's cloudy [which it is much of the time], we'll live in the bloody twilight, in the winter, except when it's dark for the rest of the time, at latitude 51°N and above. It's actually a good idea to have the light when most people can enjoy it, i.e. after they leave work.
No. It's the dark winter mornings I'd hate if it was left at BST all year round.
What I hate about it is the 3pm Saturday kick offs now begin at 11pm here, making it even more earache for me as to why I stay up so late for a game of football.
I work in a shop and I hardly saw the sun when I was fulltime...dark when I left for work and dark when i went home. Don't care if Scots have a different time-zone from us as I want independence for England
Yes, and here it is before 5pm. Which means most people only see any light in the sky as they are going to work. Not much use them then, is it..? Off course there's plenty while people are working inside. Again, not much use to them there. By December 21st or 22nd [shortest day] it will get dark before 4pm, here. Even the school kids won't see any light.
Yours should dip too much worse than 5pm on your shortest day, IIRC.
