I left school at 15 and was working full-time by 16, it would have been sooner if the law had allowed. Teachers were more interested in chucking board rubbers at you, threatening you with a bat or smacking you full on across the face, where today it would be deemed as assault - with some teachers it was like you were there personal anger management relief. So I went and played football instead and left at the earliest opportunity,

When I was at school, that kind of thing had just been outlawed so teachers were bitter about it, but you could tell they sometimes wanted to just lamp some students in the jaw, sometimes justifiably if I am honest though Most of my teachers were burnt out, bitter and disinterested. There were one or two who tried, my history teacher Mr Salver in particular, I will always remember him fondly for trying, and coincidently, History was the only A I got at GCSE level. The problem with school is that you go there when you are young. When you are young, you dont give a ****, and regard it as a joke, and if you dont have a teacher willing to call you out and put in some effort to make learning fun, then you will just **** around. Another problem with school is the social aspect of it, peer pressure and twatish friends. If it were up to me, state schools would be a row of 300 booths in a massive hall, and each student would sit in their own booth all day, with no social interaction other than that of a teacher, isolated from the other 15 year old dick heads in the classroom.
That was secondary school not juniors. It didn't help in anyway the punishments dished out, so much so I wanted to get revenge on one teacher if I ever saw him out of school. Another teacher had serious anger management issues, so there was a group of us that wouldn't turn up to his lessons, and go play football, he didn't care and neither did we about him.

to be fair, it's called progress duggie. Just a couple of 100 years ago kids used to work in the mines but we don't keep with them standards. I do think people need to learn not to buy **** for their kids though if they can't afford it. Why can't they just have fun with sticks and playgrounds outside
I know right. I left school with a few GCSE's and I manage a repair company that fixes gym equipment, and 2 of the engineers I manage have Uni degrees and probably earn 10-15k + a year less than me one is my age and the other 6 years older than me

and there's the difference between someone such as yourself with a respected qualification, to those who went to Uni because it was pushed by government(s) as the right thing to do in more recent decade(s), only for students to put themselves in huge debt, but it suited government(s) of the time to massage figures of unemployment with the ten a penny Uni option. Now they (Sunak) are trying to reverse the very trend they started by somehow targeting older folk and those on UC.....laughably blaming them for this cock-up, with the very system they the Tories set up themselves, despite peoples warnings and protests, see IDS for more details.
That wasn't the Tories, mate. They believe in free education, university was free when they were in charge. Tony Blair's labour changed all of that.
Yeah I wasn't sure if the uni thing was the Tories to be honest. I do know Sunak was trying to blame those on UC which is absolute bolloxs, as they set the minimum working hours, but instead of being honest and saying we fooked up, he alludes to them being lazy, despite most people on UC are working people.
Sunak is a slimy prick. I thought he'd be alright, but he's not. He's just another who delays, dithers and ready to cover for his mates.
When I heard Sunak with my own ears make the comment he made, I just thought your lot created UC you utter prick, so any failings with it is down to them, not the people on it, because it suited the political massaging at the time.
