You talk of contingencies, but we signed a replacement for Simms, then Stewart got injured 2 days ago. You seem to think that we should have had a list of players ready to go to replace Stewart. My "strange comment" is that it's hard to sign good players with no notice. You will counter by saying that we should have signed backup on the basis he might have got injured again, but it doesn't work like that, especially when we have so little wriggle room with the wage bill. Real life isn't Fifa/Football Manager
yep and either way Ayew is on a flight overnight and won’t arrive to sign with anybody until tomorrow. he’s on a free
Don’t patronise me mate, I know it’s not FIFA, but we went into the season light up front with only 2 strikers, which the board obviously didn’t want to do, hence why we chased Broadhead. We then had them both out with injury leaving us with no strikers. We went into this window with only one striker, so yes, to not attempt to bring in 2 strikers regardless of Stewart’s injury’s is poor planning.
Ayew still looked canny in the world cup I thought. I wouldnt pin survival on him, but I would bet he can offer something.
It is remiss not having a list ready for all eventualities, that is the job of the club. They should also have had a back up plan if Simms does not come, and it looks like he may not We will end up with one striker, which is not the best ,to say the least
The club seemed happy with 2 strikers. Until Saturday at 3.20pm, we had 2 strikers, You may think differently, but thankfully you aren't employed by the club to make those decisions.
