We've heard this before so as usual we all know the drill: Until he is pictured at the stadium in a Spurs shirt, he's officially a Chelsea player.

Kyle Walker wanted by Fenerbahce as Turkish giants plan to test Man City's resolve with tiny transfer bid | The Sun

Now I know its the Sun and with Cancelo already gone I can't imagine that they would sanction Walker leaving too (unless Porro is incoming!), but anyone here taking Walker for £7m?
Would absolutely take him back...still very good and has a couple of seasons left in him and is light years ahead of those he'd replace.

With Colin, would definitely take him back, especially at that price.

I actually have a feeling Conte won't be gone. Unless we suffer drastic results between now and the summer, I can see him penning an extension, albeit probably a short one.

I do find the two loans we've sanctioned to be quite weird though and again makes me wonder if there's genuine planning going on over the development of our players.

Gil is again heading back to a league he's already proven in, he'll play half a season there and probably come back in no better position in the pecking order. Bournemouth supposedly made a late offer to take him for the season and I feel that would've made far more sense, Conte could've seen how Gil fared against Premier League opposition and gained an idea if he can trust him more upon his return.

Likewise with Spence, Ligue 1's a decent league but it's not the Premier League, if he impresses there does he come back in any better position in Conte's viewing? Not sure. There were rumoured to be a number of Premier League clubs willing to take him too.
One thing in favour of Rennes is they currently play 3ATB, so if he does get regular games it will serve as a livefire exercise to prove he can play in something adjacent to Conte's system - and it does have to be said that Ligue 1 is a more physical league than people give it credit for, certainly more physical than La Liga, the Bundesliga or Eredivisie, which would also suggest whether or not Spence can handle the physical demands required in that role in his system

Gil on the other hand is more of a "safe" loan for lack of a better word, which is designed solely to get him playing and boost his morale, which a PL or Serie A loan wouldn't be as either of those would have effectively been putting him through boot camp. But you know what else could've been a good way to get him playing and see if he can deliver? Playing him...

<confused>

Can actually understand him rejecting Atleti, huge club but absolutely the wrong fit for him. They like defensive RBs, he's an attacking RWB.

Not sure why he'd turn down Prem interest though, ideal opportunity to stick the middle finger up at Conte by proving himself in the league.

Sporting's brass thought they'd shafted us and were already planning for a summer auction

And then they hear it, echoing through the arena

"Lima
Echo
Victor
Yankee"

If there is truth to this, we essentially paid the release clause (even though as of a week ago it technically expired anyway) and relinquished an additional 15% of Edwards' onward journey.

I have to say, unless the payment structure was very generous I do believe Sporting have done very well out of this deal.

That's what Duncan Castles is reporting

...so I'm tempted to believe Romano and Ornstein instead, not least because Ornstein's backtracking is pretty funny

Am I right in thinking that Saville got Lamela, gil and 21 million out of these deals ? Levy had his pants taken down

Yeah so far the Gil signing has been handled horribly by Spurs. Probably overpaid for him and now sending him back on loan to join ex Spurs Lamela.

I’d rather lose him in the summer than him sign a 1 year extension as that just drags out the uncertainty imo. If it’s gonna be a 2-3 year deal then i’m all for it.

Can't say I've seen much evidence of this apparent 'high rating' so far this season. I think unless Conte is about to perform a u-turn with Skipp, either him or Sarr need to go out on loan. Skipp especially as he knows the team, the club, the league etc. Sarr still has a lot to learn by remaining 'local', whereas Skipp is at the stage of his career when regular football is crucial, especially in the wake of a serious injury.

Keeping hold of all of Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Bissouma, Skipp, Sarr and White is unsustainable.

Ain't been injured for a big chunk of time?

He returned to the matchday squad against West Ham at the end of Aug. First appearance of the season came against Arsenal from the bench after the game was long gone. He's had a bunch of derisory 1-minute cameos off the bench and has started just 4 games all season in all competitions, completing 90 minutes just the once, in the cup win over Pompey.

As I said, that doesn't strike me as a player who is "highly rated".

We've got 5 very good players in midfield though. Conte rates Hojbjerg and Bentancur is probably the best of the five so not much game time for the other three.

Right, hence the importance of sending him out on loan for consistent game time. He's 22 and it is his fourth season with the senior squad.
