Numbers. Said for about 6 months. We have numbers in midfield hence the not so desperate need to buy compared to the forward line.

Now we all know those numbers aren’t good enough but until we move some on, won’t be bringing in anyone else

Damaging for Brighton? Don’t see how. They’re in a strong position and they are a very good selling club. Try get top dollar for their players and only let them go on their own terms (Trossard the exception cos the contract situation maybe).

    Cucurella
    White

Both kicked up a fuss, Brighton held firm until valuation was met.

but both were sold.in the window when Brighton knew full well what they were doing (stringing along idiots who were always going to pay)

in this case Brighton have a pissy little player sent out by new agent to force the quick sale so it goes one of two ways.

either the player gets sold now or gets sold later. the risk of later is that he upsets the squad for 4 months and that can have rolling consequences or that the fee is no bigger in the summer.

the thought the player will be a 100mil player next summer is built.in his performances so if he is not doing it (what will this agent advise?) then the player risks his move but the club is damaged.

it may be the case that Brighton won't get their "replacement" now but longer term it might be better to play Chelsea and arsenal off against each other now and move.on.

either way, nothing changes for Brighton. they are not going to pay the wages other are so are still seen as a selling club and players will come to play and move on. starting to act like levy and spurs and blocking players means they will go elsewhere.

the only thing I'd be disappointed in is the players antics as he really didn't need to do any of this and it's a black mark against his character and these sides thinking he is the solution to all their troubles.

actually this might all be encouraged by trossards antics tbh.

maybe the agent and caicedo have got a bit of encouragement out of Brighton being willing to move him.on?

Find it funny that he's thanking them for the opportunity and how he's enjoyed his time there when he's trying leave after just twenty odd games <laugh>

Tbf his message was respectful if a little premature. He switched agents very recently and this looks like poor advice from his agent trying to force the move through. I've not watched him play except his game against us but all the talk is he's going to be a top talent. If that's true then all he has to do is stay with the club he's thankful to for bringing him to the PL until summer and he will have his pick of destinations. He's not the first player to be given poor advice from his agent and end up ruining his career. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

    yup.

he started well this week with the propaganda bit about being focused.

however he's really taken on the wrong agent and has very little real advice from family if they think dirtying the bib like this doesn't taint him somewhat in England if nowhere else.

perhaps this is quite rational in spain or south America or wherever else this goes on but here it's going to put doubt in some clubs minds.

the ball is now firmly in arsenal's court to deliver the 65mil bid or chesleas to gazzump them

the problem is I'd Brighton do dig heels in and if they somehow lose tomorrow then half the squad won't be very happy that ways and the others will be waiting to follow his example won't be happy to see Brighton not rolling over I guess.

one thing is for sure, he won't be playing tomorrow.

To be fair, not all the games he played there were odd.

I think Brighton have upped his price to £80m <laugh> Arsenal would have been better targeting Rice ...... or is he off to Chelsea as well?

Brighton clearlyvthink they can get the bidding war going.

80 is not as cheeky as they could have been.

It looks like arsenal have bid 60 plus 10mil add ons so are kind of at their limit so far.

Chelsea have ball in their court now to gazzump to 75mil cash.

I think brighton will take 75mil but had there just been 1 club in and no shenanigans I still think the Rumoured 65mil would have been the mark.

Let's see where it does overnight cos the second we are out of their ground and game is over I want us to bid secretly but know we won't

Rice is running deal down at West sham.

That club have mightily ****ed up that deal as he should have gone last summer.

Rice sounds like he’s off in the summer. Keep West Ham up this year then get his move. Can’t see him as captain upping sticks mid season with West Ham in trouble, seems to have a bit of respect and loyalty to him.

Well there's that but also the fact that he does see the bigger picture.

he is 24. its now time to move so he is politely telling West hma to go do one.

he basically shafted Ireland with 3 friendly caps to his name the second England came calling so I don't think it's loyalty. I think it's all about maximising return, he knew England = bigger exposure and more money but when Chelsea let him go he was more than happy use Ireland for under age international experience etc

at 24 he will have 1 year left on his deal and has turned down 200k a week ridiculously long contract at West sham.

he's going to get his move as West ham cannot afford to let this go any longer. they've already missed the boat with Chelsea last summer imo.

You keep saying about clubs missing best time to sell. Rice last year. Caicedo this window etc.

Have you thought that maybe the clubs don’t actually want to sell at all and would rather keep their players in order to perform well in the league?

Well, I understand your point but realism has to enter the thinking too.

yes in the ideal world these.clubs get to enjoy their player for a good period but its dog eat dog world.

West Ham have had the info that Rice wants to go for 2 years or more. the second he was England no 1 cm he was off but West ham have stratched it out to the point now they need to take an offer with 12months left or face losing for nothing.

Brighton have been shafted by the 21 year old who they've just given a chance to after bissouma shafted them the year before. they need to maximise their return. macallister will be next out as well. its a crying shame to be frank but it is what it is.

Brighton are awash for transfer cash and have made 80mil so far this season net. they are about to double that. the issue is they bought gilmour so are not ready for this sale.

last season they bought about 7 players and still made a 3 mil profit due to white

the year before it was barely 10mil spend net.

it's a shame brighton can't do what good clubs could do back in days of yore (as in actually build a side and win something) but like Southampton they are getting picked clean

its time to make the dead wood list.

there was none 12 moths ago (well there was but they all.played a part in delivering success)

    1. Phillips. pointless waste of wages.amd we've held his career back. going to take 5mil min less this window than last. 65k a week ffs

    2. milner. thanks for everything but shouldn't be blocking ramsay at rb and we really can't carry him.akd Henderson supposedly only on 60k a week.

    3. salah. 350k of dead wood.

    4. ox. say no more than 120k a week.

    5. keita. having a little revival now but you just know he's doing a Harry kewell. 120k a week.

    6. fabinho. legs are gone. just given a big contract too. 180k aweek

    7. thiago. let's face it, sloppy at times, no intensity half the time, no pace. 200k a week.

    8. firmino. Best years behind him. cannot stay fit. 180k a week. New contract inbound

9 matip. no physicality any more. sorry but the mistakes compared to what konate is now delivering is no contest. 100k a week.

    10. Arthur. ****ing 110k a week for nothing.

    11. Adrian just why? 100k supposedly

1.5million per week in wages alone.

look at what we can do

    alission
    trent konate vvd Robertson
    bajcetic ?
    Jota gakpo diaz
    nunez

    just as an example.

still kelleher(who will be sold) ramsay, gomez, tsimikas, Henderson, Elliott, Jones, morton, Davies.

before you even try build a new squad

especially when there will be 1 game a week next season :(
