FFP is merely an internal measure for competitiveness. The sanctions for breach are frankly minor. Ranging from squad restrictions to fines (thus far)

Telling people how to calculate compliance with FFP is in uefa's remit. telling them how to finance their business or pay tax etc is not, every club is a company who has to obey local and eu laws (which ever applies)

Calculating FFP over a 5 year term hurts chelsea as follows:

2022/2023 (jan) signins would run now out to 2026/27? year

Mudryk contract = out to 2031 70mil fee and rising- a fairly whipping issue inbound here.
Badiashile 2030 (35mil fee, 15mil issue?
Madueke 2030 (30mil fee, now looking at 10mil issue?)
Santos 2030 (12mil fee so about 5mill issue?)
Fofana (the CB) 2029 (now only 4 more years) (75mil, this means 40mil is now an issue)
Fofana 2 lol 2029
Cucurella 2028 (now only 4 more years)
chukwuemeka 2028 (now only 4 more years)

per years this could add up to something like 15 or 20mil hole in thier budgets i guess that they need to make up. I suppose a few sales will help that out.

the probelm i see with what cheslea have done is they have about 5 lws, loads of Cbs, chasing every cm on the planet yet not a striker to be found.

They'd doubled and trebled up in some positions totally unnecessarily.

imo people need to realise that there's never just one player and every club can't buy 50 players.

prime examples.

mane. fell out of fashion before we got him was on utds radar year prior.
salah. flogged by chelsea
wijnaldum. everyone went wtf.
fabinho. nobody said oh he must be bought round the prem.
Robertson. relegated, never looked at by big clubs.

and on and on.

lfc have just brought a 250k academy buy through who might be the next trent for us. (by that I mean vital first team player)

we just bought nunez, diaz and gakpo for the forwards in consecutive windows.

I mean we all know full well we need cms but we have 17 foreign players and have to have the clear put too. we've made our bed by the look of it and must lie in it this year.

we've got all the forwards you could want... you can't say we have not bought, you can debate if they are any good but that's another matter.

we know we need cms. we all do. we also know the club told us we were not getting one so there's zero point being angry all the time about it.

cba to check but rules don't normally apply retrospectively .

Well... in thus case the ffp calculations are going forward in time so once this rule change is in effect wouldn't it mean the intended accounting Chelsea had in mind for 2023/24 etc will no longer be possible?

as in, they might be able to have a low amortisation this financial year but they can't apply the same level going forward?

if they could cos they already started the application of the fee then it would tantamount to telling everyone to spend as much as humanly possible right now and sprea did out?

I suppose all will become clear if cheslea continue to splurge or if they find their scheme has backfired in their face.

if the solution for ffp is to lock in a massive potential advantage for the offending club then it's not much of a solution.

like i said i cba to check but legally changing rules retrospectively can be problematic so might mean they are allowed to for these players but none signed once the rule is ratified .

I don't think it's like depreciation so for example for tax purposes they might be able to amortised over a longer term but for ffp it has to be 5 years.

it'd be a travesty if clubs could just spend 400mil from now till Feb 1 and laugh

tbh if any club spends £400m this window best of luck to them :emoticon-0112-wonde

Well, Chelsea are up to 488million? it's the same financial year.

125 at Bellingham
100 at caicedo
only need throw 175 at a couple more players

or even just bid on mbappe for z.

the fees are that stupid someone could in theory spend 400mil just like that.

now having the sosh is another thing.

if

If we can’t afford to strengthen the midfield, we are lost. .

If we can't afford to strengthen the midfield, we had no right buying Gakpo and Darwin... Both likely future stars and eventually needed, but the midfield has been most dire need of fixing.

We're sinking because we're waterproofing the deck instead of fixing the hole in the hull.

Caicedo said his goodbyes. Thanked the club and record fee

Well as far as I see the lad has changed his tune from during the week (his agent sent him out to speak ) to openly he wants to go now.

I can only presume someone at Brighton told him it's not happening this window.

the tactic not is to forego the pittance of a loyalty bonus and to go full on break with club to force move.

it's now only a question of if there's a bidding war or not and what Brighton will take on deadline day or if they really think holding the guy till summer is best.

Chelsea v arsenal by the looks of it, that suggests a higher fee.

if it's only arsenal then the rumoured 65mil might be their threshold to accept but on deadline day.

if they hold on then it could be good or bad long term for them.

they have to disappointed in this lads lack of professionalism as he's all the time and skulls to get a great move in the summer without resorting to this ****.

maybe he wants an easy league medal

oh and stand by for one of two things

1. lfc fan rapture

2. lfc fans losing their mind we didn't bid.

there's a very small cohort going to shrug and say whatever online I reckon.

Brighton told him not for sale, stay away from training until after the deadline.

Good on them. Too easy for players (or mainly agents) to act the dick to get a move.
