Strangely, I missed this Kiwi post (not really, I don't read any of them), but I have a little sympathy with it. Everyone's getting rather too gung-ho in their support for Ukraine for my liking.
Absolutely Strolls......Of course I’ll be labelled by some as a “Putin Apologist”, however the whole situation really doesn’t seem right. It’s a proxy war in all but name, with the West now giving battle tanks and talk of Ukraine now wanting long range misses next on their shopping list. It just seems to be giving Putin the excuse he needs for escalating the whole thing, bringing more nations into the conflict and leading to possible all out war between NATO and Russia. Interesting to hear of the heightened tensions between Serbia and Kosovo, with many thinking this could possibly be the opening of a new front in the current conflict and a means of drawing more nations in. It’s all rather worrying
Me too. Zelensky seems intent on dragging NATO into the conflict, turning defence into attack, which would become apocalyptic.
My thoughts exactly. And with the West seemingly willing to arm him with all the weapons needed.....I’ve a feeling he may get his way. I often wonder how this part of history will be judged over the coming years, and of course hindsight is a wonderful thing.....however I genuinely believe that Zelensky will not be seen as the “good guy” in the years to come.
Putin is the bad guy, but Zelensky isn't whiter than white. The only positive outcome can come from diplomacy but there's no sign of it happening.
He doesn't need an excuse. He invaded Georgia. He invaded Crimea. Now he's invaded Eastern Ukraine, and is deliberately targeting civilians. And we're all supposed to say, yes, appease him and he'll stop. For the birds.
