4 in the cup. Away at Saints scoring a goal felt like a miracle. Apart from our pressing game we have been so much worse since the WC break We shouldn't have sold Wood.
Ashworth will have seen those players we are now linked with when at Brighton but they wouldn’t have had the financial clout soo was ruled out at the early stages and that’s his ball park now and not just the players Brighton are getting.
What, so going unbeaten in 20 consecutive games isn't good enough any more? Have you already forgotten the last 10+ years?
If we don’t sign a player or two and we miss out on top four it will feel like we have missed an opportunity.
I agree. But equally if players like Gordon are being overpriced, then I trust the club if they decide to back out.
Apart from the Leicester game they've seemed a bit knackered compared to before Xmas. They just need a rest I think, a lot of them looked shattered against Soton. I didn't see the logic in selling Wood either, especially if we can't get someone else in.
I agree aswell. I might be the only one on here that thinks he’s a good dangerous player. For 35m plus addons it’s a good purchase. But I don’t think the money is there yet.
No, but saying we should sign a player in January is pretty basic stuff. Everyone else is doing it, we have a gap in our game and the money is there go buy a replacement. But we shouldn't because for 20 years we were dog and haven't won a major trophy in 60. Logic is baffling. Always go for more, always, always, always. Waiting in football is a fools game. Take every moment by the horns or be ****. It's your choice.
I have a kind of sneaky agreement with you there There is a player in there and could EH work some magic on him? First day conversation though “ don’t come to training dressed like Rupert the bear ok “
Lol the moment we are looking like we have missed out on Gordon the brave brigade pop up saying he's actually a decent player
Totally agree, IF the right player is available. AND at the right price (for transfer fee and personal demands). AND they want to come. But we can't dictate signings, we have to trust Ashworth and co. If they say nobody has ticked all 3 of those boxes, then what do you want them to do?
Everton look like they are lining up Ziyech as a replacement for Gordon. Me personally I'd rather have Ziyech at the Toon than Gordon so can someone not screw their loaf and just contact Ziyech and tell him if he doesn't sign for us he's gonna end up at Everton? That should be enough to seal the deal surely !
Not sell players before we have even got a replacement ready to sign. If we didn't sell a soul and didn't sign a soul I would be silent. The selling of Wood is a disaster if we haven't got a replacement lined up. Whoever made that decision would be in my office answering serious questions
Trying to force a move methinks....hopefully not our way, not for the price being bandied about at the mo. Miggy = £25m, Big Jo = £40m, Bruno = £40m, if the smackems want more than £20m for him we should tell them jog the **** on.
My thoughts on Wood are known, but I have to agree with this. For all his faults to some, he's a squad member who has racked up 23 appearances this season, was sold and not replaced. Now, i don't think we need a CF with Isak's return, but this is still someone who played a lot of times who has been let go with nobody lined up. That's poor. I think Eddie feels it's poor and from his demeanour in the media it looks like he's been let down a bit on this. The Gordon chase is not helping; hourly updates by the tedious media for a player nobody likes is probably not helping. I mean, if it was a to-and-fro on Thuram, Maddison, even Tielemans, Pulisic, Gallagher, then there'd be a little more patience. But this whingey ginger ****bag is just not what anyone was expecting. And we can't keep saying "yeah, but look at how **** Ashley was" as if that's an acceptable yardstick. Those were times nobody should go through, so let's ignore that and focus on 1993-2002, instead. We've been acquired partly by PIF and Staveley is also quoted as saying she wants this club to win things; yet here we are, three windows in and Jacob Murphy's coming on. Again.
