There is no evidence that is true though just speculation , it came from football league world who aren't exactly renowned for getting things right
Unfortunately my last experience of Edinburgh was being herded through the streets like cattle after a pre season friendly with Hibs in the pouring rain, with "f**k off back to England" being shouted, and a copper unwilling to help me and my 80 year old uncle when I simply asked where they had moved the coaches too. Not denying it isn't a lovely place, but it's soured me toward it.
No came from Paul Kendrick - the local Wigan journalist. Saying WIgan is still his first choice. I completely get the point that people don’t want to be second choice. But I’d imagine if Barcelona came in for him we’d probably be behind them as well. Wigan is HIS club. He left under a cloud and has publicly spoken about how he regrets having to leave them so soon (they essentially cashed in on him due to their financial issues). He will likely be keen on the idea of going back and helping them. I don’t think we should begrudge him that massively, nor do I think we should be so proud that we say “well **** you then Wigan are ****”. If anything I applaud and appreciate a young player being loyal to HIS club for once, rather than just chasing the most glamorous option.
Be that as it may, it would seem to suggest that as a Wigan fan, and the fact Leeds and Wigan have reportedly being in dialogue, he probably wants to go to Wigan and there's nothing wrong with that. However if Wigan are in bother (again) and transfers could be frozen, the player needs a backup plan, I'm saying I wouldn't want that to be us. I respect your opinion though.
I think sentiment a side, he'd have to be a huge narcissist to think he'd be able to single handily save Wigan. They're a complete basket case. Can't pay wages, and havent won a game since the new manager arrived. If he wants whats best for his development here or Blackburn is the better option. No questions asked.
But why? We can’t go around turning players down because we aren’t first choice, i’d imagine a lot of these young players we are signing need some convincing to move here
Because we've been shafted before. There's alot of talk of the new model, and from what I've taken from it is all the players want to be here, you can tell by the football being played, team spirt that has with no passengers. All it takes is for one to be here that's had to "settle" for us and the ballance is away. The lads a Wigan fan and who wouldn't want to play for the club they support, he wants to go there and it seems the only thing that would stop it would be red tape. Just my opinion.
You can’t turn down a quality player just because we’ve been done over before, thats just bad business
That's fine mate same goes to you. I get the whole Broadhead narrative however i think this is slightly different . He isn't going to put in any less effort playing for us than he was Wigan . We need two strikers if they are financially knackered then i would take advantage , I mean how many times have we been the victim of that?
I understand that but I like it, personally. Shows character. And for his long term development its easy to say coming to a good attacking side like us is worth it, but actually if he can show teams that he can fight in a relegation fight and still produce the goods then it might actually serve him in good stead long term. He’s not likely to get a move to a top top club so it’s very likely that most of his career is going to be spent in relegation fights anyway. (This might be the most pessimistic thing I’ve ever said)
As much as our transfer links are exciting now i'm looking forward to not seeing the same stories reworded from next week!
I was thinking more Will Grigg. Usually we never know when a player comes if we were his first, second of third choice, however in this case we do. I'm not saying I'm right, but I can think of 4 young talented players that have left London to come here because they want to be here and its showing in both leauge possition and some of the football on the pitch. In the past that's unheard of, now we're managing that and I love it. I just feel the time of signing "aye go one then" players has seemingly past. As much as I can't stand them, and yes they are probably going for the money, but the players Newcastle are signing want to be there and look at them at the minute.Time will tell thought mate.
Well thankfully this time we wouldn't be spunking all our money on one player. This time if it doesn't work out we say thanks and see you later
There is a difference between being 2nd choice and, in the case of Grigg, not wanting to be here at all and just being pushed out of his club because they couldn't refuse the stupid money being offered.
Agree with this. When you see the video of Ekwah and see how he is bursting at the seems to be part of our club it helps you realise we are putting something special together here. Don't force anybody or give in to stupid demands just to play here. Not the sort of player or personality we want. Them days are gone
